With a shortage of true HFT practice venues in our area, a small group of us have created a permanent HFT practice range. Currently 36 Simmons and Knock-over targets, from 8 to 60 yards and a limited zero area. The venue is intended as a 'walk-on' facility for all. Though primarily set up for HFT, all styles will be welcome, as the main emphasis is on practice.
Family units and juniors will be encouraged and a variety of air guns (yep! ... back of the shed boingers and gas plinkers) will be provided for hire.
The land owner is more than happy for us to be there, as keeping the coppice clear encourages some rare butterflies and they propose to do some kind of study.
Once established, obviously we will have to provide a ground rent and therefore need a membership. There will be a range charge for those who prefer to turn up 'ad hoc' as non members.
A very welcome pub backs onto the land, treat the wife, the food is superb and well priced. Best of all, they have a camping field! Anglers have week-end socials, why not air gunners? ..... probably beacause booze and guns don't mix and any degree of intoxication will exclude anyone from shooting ..... bear it in mind!
I will post relevant pictures of the area and venue later.
We're offering two free shoots to anyone who turns up for taster visits. Please ensure you have your insurance details with you when you sign in, as there is no club insurance provision as yet.
Tea, coffee are on the plot and limited other catering as determined over the coming period ......... packed lunch, picnic in the woods?
Dedicated toilets are in hand, until they are, the fishery facilites are at our disposal, please be considerate passing through the fishery.
Now open from 10am to 6pm on Sundays .........
Directions ........ Location in South East:
Main St, Peasmarsh, Rye, East Sussex, England, TN31 6YA.
Getting There:
Iden Wood fisheries is located in Iden Wood just off of Coldharbour Lane which runs between Peasmarsh and Iden. The fishery is located on the left if you are travelling from the Peasmarsh end of Coldharbour Lane. Once on the site, follow the track untill you come to the airgun range on the right. Please do not stray onto the fishery and keep noise moderated.
Contact:
Andy Ashdown (fishery owner) on 01797 280180 or mobile 07906 232225.
See you soon ....... Gaz.

All day Sunday Charles, 10am to 6pm and Tony Miller from Willow is there on Mondays, possibly along with Tony Archer.
It's a free time thing.
Alan Grayson and his boys from Buxted had a taste and then went for lunch in the pub.
Steve, I toyed with the rod and gun manouvre myself as I watched a fully plated Mirror of about 30lbs, cruising by in the margins about 6 o'clock, that would mean pitching the bivvy in the pub field all weekend! .... as it's a day water ......... oh that would be so harsh!
Practised all day for next week and then polished off a very nice lasagne meal, before heading for home ....... brilliant! ..... roll on the divorce!

Shame it's such a trek for me although a weekend camping and shooting with a 4 session comp and a bbq and a pub evening thrown in would be a top idea ;)

No Charles, the tense was correct.
On Mondays, the two Tonys will be there.
We'll be pleased to see you on Sunday of course I was going to SEAC, for a cup of tea and a chat, however Buxted is on and I need the practice.

I was going to head down to SEAC for the family to shoot but the weather looks a bit dodgy meaning no.1 son and the wife will be at home so I'll probably see you at Buxted on Sunday then Gary... I need the practice to ;)

Coldharbour lane, Peasmarsh, on the Iden Wood Fishery for those of you at a loose end who don't fancy concrete and little plastic balls.
Open from 10am, free taster shoot. Over 30 targets to suit everyone and all styles, at distances out to 60 yards plus, attractive woodland setting, bring a pic-nic and shoot all day. Finish off the day with a pub meal ............ I do!
arf-tastic!

Hi All,
I am very keen to try my (shaky) hands at HFT, the unfortunate thing is that I work most Sundays. I am really hoping that I could maybe come along on Mondays as I hear that there will be two Tony's there?!
If at all possible could someone drop me their phone number via P.M as I live in Leeds in Kent and would like to know if this is possible before the drive!
Thank you for your consideration.

Great, love to come! I'm 13, and am really into airgunning. One question, what sort of details do we need?

I would just like to say that a couple of friends and I went over to Iden fisheries air rifle club this Monday and had a wonderful time. The venue is fantastic and Tony was most welcoming! We were a bit concerned at first by Holly, (Tonys great Dane) but her bark is worse than her bite! We had the most marvelous weather imaginable and enjoyed the HFT course immensley, there are some sneakily laid out targets and a lovely 60 yd shot that had me and my Titan .22 on edge! My good friend Timgun had it sussed with his MK3 however. Needless to say I can highly reccommend a day out there. There is an open comp there this Sunday 05/10/08 but will be unable to make it. Good luck to all!:)

I'm glad you enjoyed it, sadly I've been a bit preoccupied with other things that proved to be a complete waste of time and effort.
As it turns out my plans have changed for this weekend and the 'Open' looks pretty promising. Shame you'll miss it.
I may even be joined by a few others ....... that should please ol' Ton'
I'll pass on your remarks.

Nice write-up Neil.
We thought Tony & a few of you were going to make the Sussex Open at Buxted today. I'll have to ring him and berate him a little. Another springer in the mix would have been welcome.
Now things have quietened down some, I may be able to get over for a shoot and a cuppa.
Always next year.
