Not long had this rifle and havent seen a review on them before so thought I'd put my tupennyworth in. :)

This carbine sized rifle is extremely well balanced and sits very comfortably in my shoulder. The blue stock I can take or leave but I wanted something "different" and that is what I got. This version comes with an HW moderator which I decided not to waste on a springer so I removed it and have replaced it with a soundbiter which (IMO) suits the overall dimensions of the rifle better.
The blueing, whilst not Theoben standard is very deep and sturdy looking and certainly puts that of AA rifles to shame. Overall, the appearance of the rifle is very pleasing.
I placed my Simmons Whitetail Expedition 4-12X42 scope on top of it using a one-piece mount and utilising the rearmost arrestor screw hole (there are 3 of them) on the receiver, I set about putting a few JSB Exacts through it and finding a 35 yard zero.
The trigger, as was promised to me by a forum member, is a good as it gets. A really nice controlled two-stage let off. The hand-grip is a little too chunky for my liking which means I have to extend my trigger finger the tiniest bit more than I would want to in order to achieve correct finger-pad position but by sliding my thumb into the "thumb up" position I can do this with little or no hassle. The cocking stroke is very smooth and about what I would expect from a sub 12 ft lb rifle with a short barrel.
The pay-off in getting this rifle is the smoothness of its firing cycle. I am still totally suprised by how smooth and short the recoil is. There really is next to no movement. The last .177 springer I had was a BSA Lightning Excel and when compared to that - the HW35 KLS feels like a V Mach Laza-glided tuning job. It took me 10 pellets to zero. After that I was hitting a 15mm zone on a knockover target at 35 yards (bench rested) with boring predictability. I've put about 150 pellets through this brand new rifle so its not even run in yet. Truth is, I'm absolutely thrilled at this rifle's performance. I really didnt expect to be enjoying shooting it that much (as daft as that sounds :o ). I bought it on a whim, wanting a springer but not the usual TX/Prosport/HW97 variants and cant believe my luck.
The rifle is descibed as "Limited Edition". ( ). I'm led to believe that these are not as "limited" as the manufacturers would like us to think but I would recommend anyone out there who comes across one to snap it up. Its an old design model but with an up to date performance standard IMO. :)

Welcome to the HW35 fan club. :)

Totally agree with your comments.
The standard '35 does benefit even more from a little TLC, a re-lube (with Macarri tar) and a good quality main spring and is such an easy rifle to work on.
Its very under rated IMO.

Interesting review KC, I have only shot an old HW35 with iron sights and really rated the gun for accuracy and ease to shoot. I have to say I am a bit envious of your gun but the saving grace is that if I were to get a new springer it would be .22

Enjoy the gun in its Pompey colours!:D

Sounds well good, innit? Will you be taking it with you to the Sizzler tomorrow so that gawpers like me can have a fondle?

I've never seen one of the laminated blue stocks in the flesh and like you, it has never been a selling point for me. I did see some other 35 LEs on here a while ago, I think there was one with a black stock and silver action/barrel(don't know if it was nickel plated or what). Now that got me excited. I thought the LEs were mainly, if not all, 0.22s so never really paid much attention.

I would love a smart 35, but it is definitely on the "when me premium bonds come in" list:o:(

Richard

I had a HW35 for a while, indeed a great rifle. I used it open sights only, cause these are great on the 35's. They įre a tad heavy though in weight, the 35's..
I would've bought one back if they were lighter..I now have the 35's lighter brother, a HW30S.They have good finish indeed, like all HW's. Can't say it's better than AA though.Good trigger too, and accurate.
But I own several lazaglided rifles, and allthough a 35 shoots nice, it's nowhere near a lazaglided rifle imo.
Maybe you feel it has little recoil. Probably cause of it's weight and being underpowered (nearer to 11Ftp than 12Ftp).

air shooter in wenington (essex) near tilbury has this and the 97k in limited edition for less than the normal version. £269 for 35 and 299 for 97. Was gonna get one, but decided not too, but in the flest the 97k looked great.

I'll most certainly bring it along Richard. I'm toying with the idea of shooting the 60 pegs with it - but its still not run in yet. :)

Seeya tamorra.

It's nickel plated, stock is painted matte black. My HW30 is a black silence as well! (see HW30/R7 review if interested in info). The black silence was mostly a german version. It's very rare outside germany iirc. Mine is imported too, it's an 'F'.
