Not long had this rifle and havent seen a review on them before so thought I'd put my tupennyworth in. :)
This carbine sized rifle is extremely well balanced and sits very comfortably in my shoulder. The blue stock I can take or leave but I wanted something "different" and that is what I got. This version comes with an HW moderator which I decided not to waste on a springer so I removed it and have replaced it with a soundbiter which (IMO) suits the overall dimensions of the rifle better.
The blueing, whilst not Theoben standard is very deep and sturdy looking and certainly puts that of AA rifles to shame. Overall, the appearance of the rifle is very pleasing.
I placed my Simmons Whitetail Expedition 4-12X42 scope on top of it using a one-piece mount and utilising the rearmost arrestor screw hole (there are 3 of them) on the receiver, I set about putting a few JSB Exacts through it and finding a 35 yard zero.
The trigger, as was promised to me by a forum member, is a good as it gets. A really nice controlled two-stage let off. The hand-grip is a little too chunky for my liking which means I have to extend my trigger finger the tiniest bit more than I would want to in order to achieve correct finger-pad position but by sliding my thumb into the "thumb up" position I can do this with little or no hassle. The cocking stroke is very smooth and about what I would expect from a sub 12 ft lb rifle with a short barrel.
The pay-off in getting this rifle is the smoothness of its firing cycle. I am still totally suprised by how smooth and short the recoil is. There really is next to no movement. The last .177 springer I had was a BSA Lightning Excel and when compared to that - the HW35 KLS feels like a V Mach Laza-glided tuning job. It took me 10 pellets to zero. After that I was hitting a 15mm zone on a knockover target at 35 yards (bench rested) with boring predictability. I've put about 150 pellets through this brand new rifle so its not even run in yet. Truth is, I'm absolutely thrilled at this rifle's performance. I really didnt expect to be enjoying shooting it that much (as daft as that sounds :o ). I bought it on a whim, wanting a springer but not the usual TX/Prosport/HW97 variants and cant believe my luck.
The rifle is descibed as "Limited Edition". ( ). I'm led to believe that these are not as "limited" as the manufacturers would like us to think but I would recommend anyone out there who comes across one to snap it up. Its an old design model but with an up to date performance standard IMO. :)
