Well done Mike, that was uber quick  ... Although I have to say, a great shoot from the Buxted youngster, & not taking anything away from him but 56 (+ 4 junior points) is not a clear round IMO, it is however bleddy good shooting from a up & coming junior ;)
Also what about using THIS (http://sussexinterclubhft.myfastforum.org/index.php) site for all the banter, at least we won't get told off for bumpage & banter ;)

Or you could use this (http://airgunbbs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4) one.
I only caught up with the BBS last night (hardly been here at all for the past couple of months), but I thought the concerns/warnings/new rules expressed about 'banter' was its location here - IN THE EVENTS SECTION.
As I have struggled to 'play' on this (the greatest) BBS, I have no wish to to have two forums to monitor.

ps ... acknowledge and agree with your comment about today's 56/60. Would love to see one of our Juniors 'really' clear a course :)

Phew, i'm not at the bottom (apologies to everyone below me, but i normally look at the bottom to find my name and this time i had to look harder).
I passed a dead badger on the way to Mileoak this morning who could read the wind better than me:rolleyes:.
Excellent work.

Oh Mike haven't you missed 10 off my score.
Oh at least even the people who came second will hope that their score today is dropped 93% for second.
Maybe everyone who has an eye on a trophy should club together and buy something nice for second spot because I predict 1st is sorted already. At least having just turned 13 he will only be a junior for 2 more years.

See now is this going to start to be unfair for the adults  an adult scores 58/59 on a hard course only to be beaten into 2nd with the extra points.. I know the points are there to help the youngsters scores but should a line be drawn, a cut off point as such on the scoring ??
I know it's not a popular discussion & yes, it has top be Mr Controversial  that brings it up, but blimey, when juniors regularly out score adults without extra points isn't the whole idea of the thing pointless ?
Maybe the easiest way is for the juniors scores to count in their own tables & adults on theirs but still count on the team ?
I don't know

tbh i know what ure saying but he deserves the extra points because unlike you turning just 13 he doesn't have the addvantages of an adult. like being a bit stronger and taller ect also being a junior myself i find it difficalt to see a few targets that most adults can see and without junior points it would be unfair because were just not big enough to see it! i belive is craig was older with all its benefits he could have still got a clear round because there where definatly 4 out there i had to drop because i couldn't see the kill....
and besides if u drop junior points that means u have to drop sprniger and 22 points because if an adult scored 57 with a springer and got +3 points than it is still unfair (but thats never being brought up on here now is it...
any way well done craig (i think it was graig)

Not sure if it is just me....cos i do like winning wherever possible!..But I don't care.....:D
If a thirteen year old can equal my score, when i feel i got the most i could out of a course, then he deserves the extra points!:D:cool:
If Craig wins overall this year (Which will be difficult if he accidentally gets his fingers slammed in a car door/gate......Then i reckon he would probably want to shoot in the seniors the next year just to show the likes of you and me that he has taken what he has learned through SIHFT and His home shoots, then kicked our butts!
Isn't that what we are all about..encouraging the little blighters!!:D
He won because he deserved it!
I don't feel beaten i feel proud, as i will if our young Spence comes through!;):D

I think that just about says it all and puts the relevant post firmly to shame.
"flamed" ............... nobody's that bothered.
Those of us out there with Craig, could only watch with envy as he dropped all those difficult , wind affected targets in the field, with a confidence that was absolutely amazing. He deserves every credit for a truly awe-inspiring performance, accompanied with, as Barry Blackham put it "a really annoying smirk", into the bargain.
Scott Grayson navigated the course on crutches, with his leg in a cast and put in a performance that reinforced his position as SHS junior champion, taking shots standing, that most adults would have shied away from.
Adults under-estimated the potential juniors had and were conceited enough to factor in an allowance at the out-set, consequently we're going to get hammered. The junior allowance wasn't over-egged. Juniors have simply upped their game and there's only one glaringly obvious response to that.
This series is inclusive, successful and is now bigger than any one individual.

Thankfully, most adult participants still remember how to have fun and are getting better at it with every event in the series.
Suck it up, or do one.

I'm all for getting whooped by the juniors believe me, but blimey, you must understand where i'm coming from, when they are scoring as well or better than the adults consistantly ...... maybe we should adopt a system like UKAHFT or SHS, splitting the junior class from adult. If it's just down to paperwork i don't mind giving a hand..... I don't know, but i sure as hell know i'm not the only person who thinks these things, just the only fool that voices them, only to watch as others say nothing... yet again. :(
I think it's best i try not to get involved anymore.

My 2 cents worth...........
Yesterday was the most fun I have had at a HFT event
Twice I had to stop what I was doing and wipe away tears and recompose myself before attempting to hit a blurry target.
I know Charles pushed his Tena lady all the way yesterday as he was giggling like an eight year old with me
Great shoot, great course, great company, great burgers! Thanks Aunty and all you Oakies!

Ah well that's where i was going wrong; reading the wind, allowing 1.5 mil into the wind and seeing the pellet ignoring the wind and going straight as a die to plate it.
I should have paid attention to what the wind ignoring pellets were doing because that happened to me more than once.
That wind was very deceptive like a sultry siren from the deep.
Interesting experience and will it teach me any lessons in time for the next shoot? Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel:D.

I was about to come back with a witty rejoinder to Charles about Matt needing all the help he can get... until I realised it was Matt that accusations of recieving coaching were made at... if anyone needs coaching it's not likely to be the bloke that came 3rd in Southern Hunters
I can only assume it was someone new to SiHFT that complained as Charles and Matt's banter and gamesmanship has entertained through many a wet Sunday morning shoot!
Personally I shot the worst I have done for about 18 months and despite my boy being really ill he shot like a demon and has a huge smile on his face still. I had the best and most fun day out for ages... let's not spoil it by taking ourselves to seriously and focus on the fact it's supposed to be fun.

The wind pixies were having fun with us Ben, one shot I'd aim right and it would drift all the way back across to hit the leftside of the plate, the next shot I'd aim right and it would impact axactly on the crosshair yet the wind at the peg felt the same... evil Mile Oak wind pixies and their warped sense of humour toying with my pellets!

Sorry but the chinese whispers are at work again , that or it clearly went over my head ( doesn't take much ) . Did someone genuinely have a poke at Matt then or was is Charles and his usual brambling :D
Well shot young Jack you showed exactly how how much you have matured as a shooter yesterday , much more relaxed and taking your time on every peg .... bar one resulting in a well deserved 53 ! lol

I think there's a mathematical formula for knocking a rifle/scope off zero. But it basically comes down to knocking only in odd numbers never even numbers.

Right.
I'm sorry everyone that i speak my mind, i'm sorry that i'm competitive as well.
The current scoring system will not work, it can't.
How can it when someone who shoots as well or better than me gets 4 points added to their end score, junior or not.
It just seems like the comp is a waste of time to do if you're competing, & come on, since we've added badges & trophies it is a real comp now, some of us like to take it seriously you know .
I have nothing against Buxted, it's juniors or the other juniors doing well, it's great to see the scores they are putting in, it really is (& i go round with one remember) , i just feel it's unfair with the current system, if i score 58 on a bloody hard course & 'junior' scores 55 i'm beaten into 2nd, hows that fair ?
This is the point i am making & it also makes a mockery/shambles of the tables IMO.
Again sorry & i'll go get a life now shall i .....

Steve, you and everyone else are entitled to your opinion on the rules and how to improve them and you shouldn't be targeted for saying so, as you say you may not be the only one with this view, BUT, there a time and a place.
Time, before the SIHFT series starts.
Place, not where the accomplished junior will read it and think they have done something wrong which they have not.
I think there needs to be a system in place for complaints,Ideas and suggestions (not rule 7 ) to be heard and taken into account in private and not on here. any changes unless for safety issues should be done before the next series starts and all the rules, changes etc be available for all SIHFT shooters to read prior to the first event should they want to.

If anyone has a problem about the way the series is being run I would ask that they contact either Mike Burgess, Mike Byford, Andy Simpson, Derek Watson or myself - preferably directly, rather than in open forum. If we can fix it, we will.
Remember we are purely a bunch of ordinary shooters who happen to be enthusiastic enough about our sport to put a shedload of time and effort into organising and running it. There has been a huge amount of effort put into getting this series going again, it didn't just happen. It is dispiriting at best to see yet another row erupt.
I reiterate, if anyone has a problem, we will discuss it and try and sort it out, we are aware of this issue but we like to do things democratically - which involves talking to each other, and that can take time.

Sorry Alan, i'm not singling out your boys, just a flaw in the scoring system as it is.
Steve, you're singling out one and it's coming across as sour grapes.
I've tried to stay away from this, as quite frankly, whether you care or not, I think it's pathetic.
I don't suppose it'll affect Craig and his moment of glory. Yesterday was his and he was a joy to behold, virtually everything fell before him, he may never be able to repeat it, but I'd put money on him against anyone after the way he shot.
There was nothing wrong with the scoring system when juniors were not regarded seriously at the outset, when yourself and anyone who wanted a say, were involved in the outline proposals that were ratified by the HOC's.
The idea of the allowances was to make the events inclusive for all sussex shooters, juniors included.
There are two distinct trophies. One for adults, which Andy won last season and one for juniors, which was earned by Craig. Therefore I fail to see your problem in that respect. If anyone is at a disadvantage, it's the other juniors and they don't seem all that bothered.
If you're as competitive as you say and you want the trophy, earn it, don't look for a scape-goat for your lack of confidence.
On the first meeting outing in the series, Craig is seen as a threat .............. how? The top five shooters got gold. With or without his allowance, that outcome would never have changed. He earned his as a junior and nothing else.
Craig is an enigma. A junior who can shoot as well as an adult ........... why?
Practice! .............. every day, outdoors and you want to knock him because he out-shot you. Consider youself lucky he's still a junior.
Sorry, all this nonsense is a fantasy. If you'd bothered to go through the proper channels, instead of running off like some self-appointed maverick, you'd know the full SP and realise just how ridiculously wrong this all is.
I listened on the periphery, when the matter was explained to Derek, but you haven't give him a chance to put you in the picture, otherwise you wouldn't be on this erroneous campaign.
Your credibilty after this is overdrawn. If you bother to read Jack's post, the juniors aren't all that impressed either.
Do what you're best at and coach & shoot. The series has got this far through the efforts of those who've made it what it is and to publicly question their expertise is a very poor show indeed.
Hopefully this is the hiccup for this series and we can all get on with enjoying the rest.

I think we should draw a line under this subject and leave it to the team captains to sort out. we are playing by the same rules as last year. Craig could not give a monkeys if he came 1st or last he is there for the enjoyment and the laughs that we have, he considers himself part of the Buxted team. The way it is going you seem to want to take that away from him. If Scott was still a junior he would fight his corner and want to beat you kids ( sorry adults ) every week. You need the four points for the juniors especially as most are four foot nothing and just starting, and with that extra encouragement they improve week on week. I hope this matter can be resolved as soon as possible, so we can all start to enjoy it again. It better to have laughed and lost , than to win and be miserable. My wife has read all the posts and cannot believe her baby has caused such a ruckus. BUT be prepared there is one more she is 11 years and has serious attitude her name is Chelsie JUNIOR you have been warned. Now lets have a good Easter the ones going to the worlds and the ones going to Horsham

Now this is the thing, i believe i got confused by something Andy had said in a previous thread & though the juniors were up for winning the individual with the extra points, it seems from your post Gary this is not the case (which is what i thought) ... I have no problem with the scoring system as it stands now that is sorted.. Hope this puts this one to bed now.

There is obvious confussion it would appear.
Certain items contained with in this thread are incorrect.
I am in no position to comment further and will leave it at that.
When the matter has been discussed by the 5 HOCs an announcement will be made.

Quick question if I may ?
I was under the impression that the juniors shot for a junior title and the adults shot for the main event so to speak . If you trawl through these posts it seems apparent that not everyone is reading from the same rule book ?
Probably an over sight that will get sorted then it's off to Swallows and an easy course that will be windy and dead-hard to range find !

This is it Dave, i'm not sure now due to this post...
Ditto
Oh Mike haven't you missed 10 off my score.
Oh at least even the people who came second will hope that their score today is dropped 93% for second.
Maybe everyone who has an eye on a trophy should club together and buy something nice for second spot because I predict 1st is sorted already. At least having just turned 13 he will only be a junior for 2 more years.

Or did i misread that ??

No you didn't misread it but perhaps it was said in jest ? I have no idea whats right and wrong anymore Steve , glad I only have to worry about shooting in it though thats for sure .

Going back over ancient ground, it would appear that I too am confused and quite probably mistaken in my own perceptions.
My remarks were a knee-jerk reaction to what I saw as an assault on a smashing kid, who'd done nothing to provoke it, other than turn in the performance of a lifetime.
Perhaps I too should consult with my own HOC, before running off at the mouth, but hind-sight is a wonderful thing.
As for things being sorted and put to bed ............ I doubt it somehow.
Speculation and conjecture are rarely constructive and it's the official line that counts. We can only wait for the results of the current deliberation and the subsequent announcement.
I have every confidence that the HOC's can surmount this annoying little bump as they have with others before.
As I've already said, after last years spat I wasn't keen to become embroiled in another and find the thought of it distasteful ....... however, best laid plans and all that.
I hope things are resolved to everyones satisfaction, but I stand by Craig's achievement and his right to a gold award by his own merit and maintain that nothing should detract from that.
Perhaps I was a tad harsh? .......... we've knocked heads before and I know you can take it as well as dish it out.
:o
To the back of the shelf for me.
Dave ............. shut it!

Whose idea was this 'kin room anyway?

I assumed, maybe wrongly, that the reason for the 4 points added to the junior score was to enable them to feel a team member by actively having the chance to be included in the team score.
If you entered as junior you are up for the junior title, if you entered as open, then you are up for the open.
But then again I can't find the SIHFT rules anywhere....
edit > I'd better add that I don't really care, I just enjoy getting out on a Sunday for the sheer enjoyment of shooting different challenging courses at different venues.

I never wanted it to kick off either, nor did i want Craigs cracking performance to be made to look anything than it was...awesome.
I just thought one thing, then a post made me wonder, i went about it the wrong way i suppose, i bit & held on like a pitbull instead of consulting with Derek, if i had then i would no longer be confused as he thought the same as i in the 1st pace, juniors are juniors & individual is the adult side of it but the junior scores can add to the team.. Maybe this is or isn't the case but the confusion needs to be sorted before Swallows.
Hope you can see where i was coming from now & where the confusion lies....
Oh & Gary, it's water under the Buxted bridge to me mate ;)
