I was going to set up one of those Stealth Cam's to take his picture when he set it off wondering around crying out "Where is everyone?":D
By the way 60/60, I've scored a PB of 57 (hell of a leap from 40 at your home ground) so I think that your chances of 'thrashing' Buxted have been reduced.
Unlike Buxted & Homebase, I doubt Swallows will have the 10% extra offer this weekend old chap.............

Complete and utter twaddle brother hobbit.
Brother MunchMatt from the very far downs, never suffers from such delusions of grandeur.
'tis not the quantity required for acclaim, 'tis the quality, therefore you are very much mistaken.
Three score matters nought, 'tis a clear score that one ought.
A timely reminder ..............
The Bluebell Wood.
In the shire, there is a wood,
A leafy dell, where Hobbits shoot,
When all about is wild and wet,
The Buxted wood is better kept,
A magic place, serene, sublime,
The hallowed haunt of fifty-nine,
One by one, step up the best,
Yet none so far, have passed the test,
A spell long cast in days of old,
To thwart the brave, the strong, the bold,
Words abound and deeds are few,
The three score waits, a champion true,
Will it be me?
Perchance 'tis you.

in a field amongst the poop,
you'll find the place where swallows shoot,
where nettles grow without restraint,
the swallows shoot without complaint.
A dreadful place, should there be rain,
And yet you all, came back again,
One by one, we'll stop to shoot,
Amid the nettles and piles of poop,
So guard yourself against the rain,
Against the nettles, they're such a pain,
Enjoy the day and shoot 'til lunch,

Fret not young Buxtedeer. Beth's message failed to reveal that they too managed just a singleton - and that Arnold () was perhaps 3-4 months old.
However, in her and the rest of the Hughes' army defence, I'm not too surprised that this was all the bunnies the shot - as there was Beth, her three brothers, her Mum, her Dad, plus two other very young kids and a spotty dog in tow. Wityh that bunch 'creeping' around, I'm a tad surprised that even the juvenile Arnold () decided to come out to play.

Bit late in the evening to be posting this, but I know there's always a few of you mad SIHFTers who are either insomniacs or peep in here first thing in the morning before the drive over to Swallows' halcion field.
As beth posted earlier, the course is set. Just hope the rabbits/squirrels dont go chewing their way through strings overnight.
Reckon this our best yet, with a surprise or two to catch out the unwary - specially if there's any breeze ;)
We've been a-strimming (until the engine broke), but I'd remind ALL of you who have shooting mats (or just a spare bit of carpet - Wilton only, please :p) to bring them on over.
And a final reminder - mentioned in the original comp thread in the banter-free zone - that we share the site with people fishing who are more highly valued by our landlord than us lot - and especially you lot !! :)
While not expecting Sunday Church-goer standards of control and reverential silence, I am very aware that it's difficult to avoid hooting with raucus laughter if your partner gathers doughnuts, or if they 2-point the wrong target. However we'd really appreciate tomorrow if you would keep this form of celebration to a muffled snigger :)

Thirded, excellent day, and so much more enjoyable being in the woods.
Hope we didn't upset the anglers too much.
Well done to The Swallows.

I would just like to say a big thank you to all at Swallows for a fantastic day. The course was perfect. All those responsible in hacking out the woodland wilderness to make the lanes and target positions there deserve a big pat on the back for all their hard work. In what was undoubtably a mammoth task with the water and thick vegetation to contend with.
Can't wait till the next visit.

a fantastic course we loved the two styles, an absolutly brilliant days event
well well done to the swallows and all who set it out and arranged it.
i thought the sausages and bacon were tops never saw burgers would have tried them as well
and i was expecting waist high nettles, rain and water, not just in the streamy thingys or lakes
instead we had a perfect day

Well done Swallows a great shoot, the woods was nice (except the stingers :( ) & the weather was fantastic !!
The level of the bar just keeps raising (for course setting & scores !!)
I fell as though I have just about surfaced sufficiently (with very large tumbler of G&T to hand) to rejoin the thread and respond to what you lot have posted post-event.
To the above - RULE 7 APPLIES.
Pleased that you otherwise ernjoyed it.

Thanks to all at swallows for a great course, big hearted welcome, and to him upstairs for fantastic weather, look forward to seeing you all at ford.
Thanks Terry - and all Fordies, especially YOUNG Richard (of course). Lets hope we have this sort of unforecasted weather for teh rest of the SIHFT series. He prob doesn't know it yet, but Him Upstairs is now a Swallows honorary member :)

well i will second what steve as just said about it being a good day and the hosting club was very good and loved the 3 bacon rolls as the bacon was cooked just the way i like it :D
Thanks for the compliments Colin. I will make sure that they are passed on to our head chef - Stuart J. At least your revelation of muching THREE rolls explains why we ran out :) Will do our best to stock up a tad more before our next hosting.

Burger ................. ZERO
Depite best intentions, burgering is best left to the professionals.
I cried all the way home.
:(
11 out of 10 for the course is appreciated and about right ;); certainly reflects the effort put in by Swallows FTC members (who know who you are guy, galls and lads & las :D). Was REALLY pleased that we managed to keep the Wooded element a fab secret from you all.
Don't think there were any burgers, were there. I'd be the last to know as I had no chance of a look in at ANY of today's catering specialities. Doh :(

Now that i've woken up (don't even remember falling asleep:)), i'd like to thank Swallows for an excellent day. I'm still amused by my ability to get stung at my first peg when i went prone....... What a perfect start!:D
Excellent company and an enjoyable woodland addition to the course (especially when a string is pulled and ducks emerge:D).
Bring on the next shoot!

Coming from you, Sir Matt, that almost brings a tear to my eye.
It makes all the hard work worthwhile. There was heartache en route, especially when, half way through our prep of the wood - in the area of lanes 1-7 - our friendly farmer decided we needed some help. He sent in his troops with a himax and ripped out several trees and burried the banks in thick mud dredged form the bottom of the ditch . Nearly gave up at that point , but I'm very glad we didn't :)

Thanks for the thanks, Jon. Appreciated.
If you hadn't picked up on this, the frequent references to our nettle jungle was part of our trickery/deception, to keep those who have only known Swallows FTC (on our current site) firmly in the belief that the open field was all we had (true until a couple of months ago) - while at the same time encouraging peops to bring mats or at least wear sensible clothing due to the rather rough ground and nettles in the wood section.
Very pleased to hear of the excellent results for you and Spencer today.

Thank Andy - and Meerkat too (wish you'd change your BBS handle - keep's reminding me of that bl**dy advert, which is driving me mad :p).
Cannot imagine Swallows ever having previously received such accolades. Not that we don't deserve it (;)), but it does help hugely to know that the effort was well regarded by YOU LOT.
Makes me want to do it all over again (but maybe not tomorrow ).
As for your (Meerkat) comment about reaction from the fishermen .... only time will tell. You did all (bar one brief outburst of uncontrollable histeria I heard on the woods course) behave exceptionally well. So .... fingers crossed :)

Well shot today Steve. Perhaps I'll catch you up when I get to grips with this Big Game Mentality thing .. and REALLY check my own zero properly :o. Only put three rounds through my dear ol'd S400 this morning, and it seemed to be vaguely shooting in the right direction. OK ... may have been a tad high; but what's a half inch between friends when your so knackered you've almost lost the plot :)
