I had the honour of calling this man my friend, at this moment in time my faith in the almighty is in question. Everything Mark tried he achieved, he truly was an insperation to all who knew him. An amazing and wonderful guy.

I'm just glad that I had the chance to let him know how much his friendship meant to me and I loved him as the brave, giving, thoughtful person he was.

I wish I could write more but here and now I am still trying to make sense of it.

He was my friend pure and simple I was only a phone call away. Why didn't he phone me or any other number of us, Nige, Cliffy, James etc etc etc he was loved by all who knew him, infact it was impossible not to love Mark, he was that type of guy.

Cliff cannot get online at present but is as devastated as me, I've just phoned him at work and like me and no doubts all who knew Mark, he wishes to pay tribute to a very special and brave man that we both had the true honour to class as a friend. Now he is gone our lives will be that much the worse for his absence, but I FOR ONE WILL NEVER FORGET HIM.

To think that new members of the forum won't be enriched by his presence on here. He had the funniest thread that I have read (or contributed to). The problem of his wonky tadger brought out the doctor/'worst'/funniest in all of us and had me in tears of laughter.

Thank you Mad Mark for the laughter and rest in peace.

Again I had the pleasure of knowing this man and calling him my friend!

Yes, he was certainly different, the man in the flesh was NOT the man who posted here!

He was warm, bright affectionate and generous, many of his talents remained unknown to the vast majority of those who only knew 'of' him!

A true character!

Campbell, called me to tell me only minutes ago - he too his shocked beyond words!

My heart goes out to Rachael and the family.

Awful - just awful.:(:(

Mark always used to take the p!$$ out of me, in a nice way, and I him, and he always called me his favourite mod, and I used to say that out of all the micro-light flying air gunners I knew, he was my favourite, too :p.

I am deeply shocked to learn this. Mark will be sadly missed, and other than reiterate things that have already been said, I can't think of owt else to say except rest in peace my friend. My thoughts are with your family.

Despite his difficulties Mark always had the ability to see the funny side of a situation and to laugh at himself when others would have been too embarrassed to let on.

Let's remember those qualities that Mark showed us, hope that his family will take comfort from the tide of friendship on here, and see if in our own lives we can emulate some of that humanity.

I am stunned.

I never met mark in the flesh, but I too loved to read his posts and see what life challange he set him self.

He was obviously one of those characters that never let anything stand in his way.

Nothing was impossible to him.

He proved it time and time again.

The Microlight was one thing, but that bloody wall he built in that wheelchair put most of the brickies I know to shame.

The amount of times I have sat at this computer and shook my head in amazement at what he was up to.

My heart goes out to his family and his friends who must be left with some incredible memories of a brave and determined man.

CHEERS MARK, YOU WILL BE MISSED TERRIBLY

It's a complete shock to hear this. Mark was one of life's unforgettable characters, so full of humour, energy and zest for life that it was very easy to forget his disability, he certainly didn't let it stop him living his life to the fullest.

F.... me  I am absolutely and utterly numb, I don't know what to say ? I never met him in the flesh but we have had several very long phone calls :( I'm gutted totally gutted, and heart broken, he helped me to come to understand some thing I was struggling with and supported me once when I felt alone, we where supposed to meet a few times but some thing else always got in the way, I feel as though I have missed out now. He was quite a character and a good man and the world was a better place with him in it. I feel devastated for rach and the kids and for anyone who was close to him as we have lost a special person who inspired many people with his wit and strength of character.

Bloody Hell, what a shock and this is really sad news :(
What a nice man mark was :( He would always ask me how Michael was doing and remember when he wanted to fly Michael in his flying lawn mower :D and i was worried, he went and asked his instructer to take me up aswell.

So we both would be flying at the same time and he said we can keep in radio contact with each other, thats the type of man he was.

I hope if/when Marks family read this thread they will see how much we all cared for this dolls head of a man.

Keith and I met Mark and Rachael when Keith did a stock for Marks Rapid.

Both being in a wheelchair gave us somethings in common and we spent the whole afternoon talking.

He was a cheerful person, determined not to let his disability rule his life, after all how many one legged men do you know who learn to fly a microlight?

We kept in touch and like Tommo he invited us to take a flight in his microlight, sadly not an offer either of us will ever be able to take up (Even if I could summon the courage!)

Both of us send our sympathy to Rachael and the children.

A character who will be remembered for a long time.

Really don't know what to type.:(

Remembering back to when Mark first joined the forum, despite his typing in caps and the sheer effort it took him to post, he made more efforts than most to be a member on here.

He also made more of an impact than most.

From his late night posts when he realised there were fewer mods on, to his tales of socks and spangly pants photos, he will leave a larger hole in the forum than he may have wanted to admit.

In anyone's life, there are always a few people you truly regret not meeting, and Mark is one of mine. I cannot imagine the hole he's left in the lives of his close friends and family.

My condolences to his family and friends.

When I first spoke to Mark it was over the pellet monopoly that the big boys in the airgun world had manipulated. We were looking at starting up a factory that was up for sale in Merseyside that used to make pellets only when Mark made enquiries it was that run down it would have needed a great deal of money and effort to make it a viable business so it was scrapped, but he was always looking for ways to help because he was that sort of guy.

I have only just heard the news.......... God bless him.
I had to go up to Mold a year ago to do a forest school course.
Not only did Mark arrange me a 5* b&b but he also took me out for supper and got me pissed. He also nearly started a fight with an entire superannuated male voice choir but I suppose that was part of his charm.

I'm gobsmacked !
This site has lost a true rock who was an inspiration to many. It was only last Sunday that I saw a microlight flying over the archery field ( Burscoe ) and wandered if it was him, the things he achieved despite the loss of his leg was truly humbling.
R.I.P. Mark.

MARK'S POSTS almost always made me smile, but sometimes (socks come to mind) I''ve had tears rolling down my face.:D

Shocking news.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends at this very sad time.

I couldn't believe it when I read that Mark had passed away.

Only ever met Mark in person once while we were at the North Wales Shooting School.

What a Character and what a Genuine Helpful, Straight Talking Guy.

Enjoyed reading some his posts on the BBS too.

Our Thoughts go out to Marks family.

RIP Mark.

I'm not stunned or speachless, over the last year I have lost so many friends and relations, all cancer, you wouldn't believe, 3 close members of my family in one month. Now 2 friends over the last 2 weeks both in their early sixties and non smokers. David

I didn't know Mark at all but like just about everyone on here I was aware of his unique personality and posting style. He had a way with words did that feller, the banter on his posts with those he knew would often give me a smile !
Even though I didn't know him at all it was still a shock to hear that one of the largest personalities on here has died.

My deepest sympathies to Marks family and all of you on here who have lost such a colourful friend.

Been away for a fortnight and have only just seen this thread, awful news:(
Did not know Mark but always laughed aloud at his numerous funny posts, especially the "Sock episodes".

A man of courage, spirit and determination..

Rest in Peace Mark:(
