I just had a chance to play with the new Rohm Twinmaster air rifle as it was being demonstrated at my club at Ford ranges.
It is called the Air Hunter Rifle, and being sold by BSA
Unfortunately I only had it for about ten minutes and fired approximately twelve shots with it.
But in that short time I was well impressed.
I found that the rifle was well balanced. The stock was much like the Weihrauch HW100 - the version with the thumb hole stock, but it had more of a slender feel to it, also, unlike the HW 100 it didn’t have that great thick piece where your thumb wants to be.
The stock was longer than the HW100 and had more of a slender feel to it.
It was laminated with a gloss finish and it looked top class.
The rifle itself is a typical PCP, shrouded barrel, single shot magnetic tray, similar to the Daystate.
It also comes with the five shot clip, typical to the Twinmaster.
The cylinder itself is quite large, with a capacity of 120 shots.
I am told it will be supplied with a silencer adaptor, as I found the retort quite loud, much like the Steyr and the Anschutz.
The only difference from the normal PCP is that it has a weaver rail instead of 11ml dovetail, which I don’t think is a bad idea, at least they are readily available on the after market, unlike the Theoben.
After firing the rifle for a few shots I realised it is in the same class as the Daystate and Weihrauch, with the same smooth cocking action that we all have got to love so well.
I think it will be very popular with us HFT boys, as it has a generous breech opening, so loading pellets when it is poring with rain and freezing shouldn’t be a problem.
The trigger is as good as was on my Anschutz, and my Steyr pistol.
Bit pricy - £900 but it is on a par with other good rifles.
Definitely on my wish list! (after I have programmed Her Indoors!)
Here is a copy of the leaflet that the salesman left behind.
