I got a pleasant surprise today. For the first time since I bought it 2 years ago, I got to shoot the SMK XS19 in 22. I just never seemed to have the time to take it out of the cabinet and shoot it. First it chrono,d at a very consistant 570 fps / 11.41 ft lbs. I was shooting freehand at pieces of lime on the fields approx 30 metres away and constantly hitting them or landing right next to them. These are 2 inch or so pieces. All this from a chinese air rifle that cost me in the region of £ 80 plus and has not even bedded in properly yet. The woodwork is good, the blueing is very good. So value for money, power near the legal limit and accuracy, what more can one ask. I am very impressed. Well done China and SMK. The only niggle was that the cocking hinge pin nearly slid out and was only stopped by the stock wood work. I gouged a nice little groove in there before I realised what was happening. Fortunately it doesnt show from the out side and has not damaged its looks in any way. Now I know it does that I can correct it. A ++++ SMK. No I do not have any connection with the company of SMK and its associates what so ever.

I agree that these are perfectly acceptable budget rifles, I have one, I fitted a Charlie da Tuna GRT trigger which made it much better although it prevented the safety from working.

My safety still won't work unless I adjust the trigger to make it worse to shoot.

So no safety for me, not really an issue though!

do you mean bear trap or trigger safety catch?
if its the bear trap you can adjust your 1st stage screw a nats cxxk this fixes that issue.
if the trigger pulls straight through the safety catch you can alter 1st stage a bit then alter the second stage slightly, then the spring type wire on the back of the catch i found it was already bent i thought i had done it getting the eclip off but it should be like this. so i just eased it a bit more(bent it more) and this seemed to sort it out with no adverse effect on the trigger

Definately nice to see something positive about these rifles they are really good value for money and shoot extremely well, i see you have had yours for a while the newer ones seem to be even better and improving all the time.
We have a young lad in our club that shoots one in HFT fitted with a hawke 3-9x44 scope and does extremely well with it, better than a lot of them (adults included) with more expensive kit and those with precharged rifles.I did have one myself which i made the mistake of selling the good part is i know the person who bought it is enjoying every minute of it.
