Hi,
Very interested in Southern Gun Co V22 rifle, does anyone own one? Like to know opinions on this expensive .22lr semi.

Good barrels (V22 is actually made by CZ)
Rough trigger - Aftermarket triggers hard to fit (dont even try)
Iffy cycling and troublesome
Accurate, smart looking.........
Essentially like all other .22 AR15's the trigger group is designed for far more poke than the .22LR can muster thus .223 drop in triggers wont
Great fun though if you like tinkering

Lad at our club has just paid nearly a thousand pounds for one of these in .22LR. It looks fantastic, but to say it is poor to shoot is an understatement.
There was a problem with the mag that caused cycling failures, the replacement was no better. Even now with the new 25 shot mag it fails to cycle every few shots with hi or low velocity ammo. It groups like a scatter gun, and the trigger is awfull.
It does look real good though.

I have one. Well, I have a .223 lower with a V22 upper.
The lower was made by rock river arms, however, thats of no real importance apart from the trigger. My trigger is excellent however.
The Upper on my rifle is superb, and I can put 10 shots into a one hole group of approx 1" out to about 70 yards. After that, things start getting erratic.
My rifle cycles flawlessy with supersonics, and mostly is OK with decent subs. Don't bother with CCI or the like, stick to Remington, Lapua etc.
However, the thing that sets my rifle apart is I got mine from Sid on this BBS, who in turn got it from Oberland Arms in germany.
I met a guy at my local club who has just bought his lower from Armalite in the US (as opposed to RRA) and his upper from Southern Gun.
Its RUBBISH!!
The Lower is OK, as you would expect, however, his rifle never cycles properly, and won't extract properly at all, HV or subs.
It's accurate, but dire in terms of reliability.
If I were you stay away from SGC and have a word with Sid who will sort you out with one that works...

Thanks guys,
I was attracted to buying one I saw at my local RFD, obviously looks don't do it justice especially at prices these go for. With your good advice I will not buy SGC V22 which is too bad since I love to own something on that level.
Does anyone have Sids email, like to speak and find out what works?
Appreciate time replying. :D
