ive shot a few ft lg100's in the past so i went to target sports to look at the new hunter rifle.
the rifle is supplied in its own abs case which after assembling the gun is useless because its too short to put the gun back into while the removable shoulder stock is in place.
once the box was opened i found a operators manual that goes into detail such as the elastomeric value and spec of the o rings used in the gun. proper engineering talk. this book is about 10mm thick and is very easy to use.
also in the box are a long allen key to fit the shoulder stock, a screw driver to adjust the infinitely adjustable 2 stage trigger and a tiny allen key to adjust the 2nd stage weight.
i got it home and fitted the shoulder stock and then realised that the gun doent come with any silencer.
a phone call to dm80 was next to ask him to cut an 1/2" unf thread onto the barrel, which he did as i waited (great bloke to deal with)
upon my return home i fitted the dormant weihrauch silencer and tested it aginst 6 other types of silencer before finally screwing the weihrauch back on.
i filled the removable cylinder to its max of 200 bar (after converting the supplied adapter from its original 232bar version to fit my 300bar cylinder.)
chrono results from my gun made me think my targetronics pm110 was broken. on a full charge of 200bar it delivers 150 shots within 5fps of the previous shot.
i then got the itch it zero it. firing an lg100 is a funny thing because its inert and unremarkable thing. just squeeze the trigger, gun makes a click, no noise until the target reacts.
its comfy to use and easy on the eye too. loading is easy as its directly into the barrel. its well balanced and shoulders easily.
pro's
accurate
easy to shoot and operate
con's
no silencer
shiney silver
adapter 232 bar not 300 bar
feels cold in the hands
the pro and con things above dont detract from the fact that this is the sweetest shooting air rifle ive ever owned.
:)
Thanks for the review as I intend to buy a Hunter. I have been intouch with Harry Preston yesterday, main sole importer, who has advised me that the LG100 Hunter is now discontinued. He has only one left for distribution. The present LG100 Hunter with the silver action and black stock will be replaced in a couple of months by the LG110 Hunter which will be all silver. I'm going to wait.

Ive had my HP for just over a year now and its an absolutly superb gun but a bit lacking as standard for an £800+ gun.
On mine i have had the regulator tweaked by Harry preston for maximum consistency (the standard reg in mine varied 15-20fps,tweaked varies 2-3fps)
FT adjustable trigger blade fitted to replace crappy looking HP blade.
Adjustable pad fitted to extend stock 3/8inch and to get a better shoulder fit.
I made a forend to make the very shallow forend deeper.
Made a cheekpiece to raise the very low/non-exsistent original (balsa wood and black tape until i can afford the Hydrographics conversion)
A lovely shiney muzzle brake made by UK Neil on this very BBS (cheers Neil :) )
And the front barrel grubscrew removed to stop any zero shift in cold weather.
Other than that,no problems really :D :D
Heres a piccy of my baby........

ive got a trigger blade on order from harry preston and i fitted an adjustable butt pad today. just looking for a decent piece of plastic to fabricate a fore end.

I fabricated my forend with layers of 1/2inch marine ply that i cut to shape then screwed and glued together before sanding to the finished shape. I painted it with quick dry spray enamel to get a smooth finish. The bolts to secure it to the rail under the gun are M8 sized stainless bolts with the heads skimmed down on a bench grinder to fit.
The flat base on the deep section gives superb support in the FT sitting position and added height for prone when rested on a gloved fist. The step in front of the deep section is for hand location when in the kneeling position, nice and secure and no more sliding down with the weight of the gun :) . And because i shoot standing with my leading hand forward i have a shaped tip to rest my hand against and an Anshutz hand stop adjusted to stop any variation in position.

Got one today, already has a Jim E barrel adapter & moderator, stunningly quiet.
Just need to do something to raise the fore-end and it'll be superb.

Picked one of these up from Stevie B. on Sunday. I already use a Steyr for FT so know how good they are. Fancied a nice pair for FT and HFT.
The gun is just as accurate as my FT version although not quite as 'dead' to shoot.
The butt pad that comes with the gun is not very good - I replaced it with a nicer shaped rubber pad that grips my shoulder better.
I also removed the silencer / adaptor and replaced it with a muzzle brake (the silencer did not come as standard with the gun but had been added by a previous owner).
Next I put a small piece of wood under the fore end so I don't have to hold on to metal all the time. (should this be done as standard by Steyr?)
Last job is to get a quick fill sorted so I don't have to keep unscrewing the cylinder.
I find the trigger blade very nice in use - it is quite broad but feels perfect. The operation of the entire trigger unit is fantastic - but that is what you would expect from a 10M trigger.
One negative is that the cylinder slightly moves inside the front collar - this does not happen on my FT version. I fixed it by putting a thin 'O' ring around the tube and then screwing the cylinder into the gun so the 'O' ring located in the front collar. This will be a permanent fix once the quick fill is done.
The gun will put pellet after pellet on top of each other as long as I do my bit. So no problems in the accuracy stakes.
It would be nice if the gun came as standard with a quick fill - it it is an outdoors gun now and has left the cosy 10M indoors life behind so unscrewing cylinders in dusty / dirty outdoor environments is not ideal.
Hopefully I will get enough practice in before Emley / Redfearns to make the most of it :)
Dave.
Dave,
Quick question - I thought the springer was going to be the new HFT gun, also what happened to that HFT pro-target?
