Recently bought an HW95 almost new and a 99S with some wear. Have shot the HW35 and the HW77, both of which I found to be too heavy for standing target shooting. The HW95 in .177 is still a little heavy but very well balanced for hold. The gun did not like the lightweight Hobby pellets but loves the Bisley Magnums at 10.6 g.
The 95 has a satisfying "thwack" but I detected a little dieselling, so I would think it is still running in. Very well made, excellent stock, but scope mounts with a recoil pin are a must. I had fitted mounts with no recoil pin, and after 60 shots found the scope moving backwards! I have read about scope creep but this was my first experience of this. Groups of 1 inch at 25 metres easy, and with practice should improve.
The 99S, in .22 really surprised me, quite light and felt a bit twangy after the HW95 but a very accurate gun. Tried Superdomes but settled on Webley Lazerdomes at 16g. The cocking effort was surprisingly high, but I eventually worked out that you have to grip the pistol grip and move it towards the barrel as you pull the barrel down. Don't know if this makes any sense, but it certainly helps. Very impressed by the 99S as the budget end of the Weihrauch range. Could stand and shoot with it all day. Has substantial open sights, not yet tried and no need to remove them to fit a scope. Had considered stripping down the 99S but after shooting it, I will probably leave it alone. Doesn't seem to be a popular model on the Forum, but seems a very good buy to me.
