As the only reveiws I see in the mags are years out of date and as lots of questions are asked about this gun I thought I would give it my best shot for a reveiw. I have a new 177 HW100 "T" and this is my first PCP. Starting at the buisiness end the moderator is aluminum and a screw fit . It's also on very tight, don't try to unscrew it whilst gripping the action, grip the barrel itself or you could damage the barrel to action fit. This moderator is super quiet and is amongst the best there is.The air cylinder is stainless and has a gauge at it's front end: it has to be removed to fill by unscrewing. this in the past has, from all accounts caused some problems with knackered threads in the ally receiver, this should not happen if care is taken when screwing the cylinder on, but the new 100s have a steel insert in the receiver so no problems should now exist at all. It is a 200 bar fill and with .177 at 11.6ft/lbs gives me approx 105 shots from the unregulated action, this is taking the pressure right down to 100 bar. No real diffference in shot placing was noticed over this range although I have not measured it exactly. Certainly for hunting purposes it's the same. I do not aim to swap this cylinder for the quick fill mod, I am happy with it as it is, although it would save a lot of weight on this very heavy rifle. The receiver is not too high above the barrel, so allowing a low sight line on the scope. The two stage trigger is to me as good as it gets, first pressure is just the right weight and smooth. The break on the second stage is crisp with no drag at all. Both are adjustable. The blade can be moved back a bit by unscrewing one coutersunk allen screw. The 14 shot magazine is simple, bomb proof, and easy to load and fit. There are two supplied. The side lever cocking is very easy to operate and is very smooth, two pellets cannot be fed into the barrel, repeated cocking does not rotate the magazine if the action has not been fired. The manual safety is where it should be and is silent to put on and off. It cannot be applied if the action is not cocked. Handy this if you have forgotten if you cocked it after the last shot, just lightly attempt to apply the safety if it won't got it's not cocked, this is much less movement than re cocking. I will not comment on the furniture, you either like it or hate it. "pretty it aint" I am not a lover of thumbhole stocks but after trying one on the range I was sold, it suits me although I am not too keen on its looks. I am sure Mr. Weihrauch is not going to be upset at this, I think the aim is function before beauty.
I fitted a Hawke 3-9 x50 illuminated mill dot scope which just clears the barrel on low mounts, I do like a nice low sight line. Zero at 35 mtrs gives me a first zero at 10 mtrs and the pellet rises not much more than 1 inch above the sight line at about 18mtrs. Aim points are 1mill dot up at 45 mtrs and one down at the 18 mtr mark with a magnification of 9X. I can not vouch for the super accuracy of this gun, I am not a good enough shot but I can get 1 hole groups at 10 mtrs and 2 pence groups at 30 mtrs. I have tried as many pellet types as my patience would allow and Accupells come ot best with my barrel. Tally so far is 12 rabbits five pigeons and three magpies. Killing with this gun is not dramatic, the 100 just gives that almost silent twangy click and 30mtrs away a rabbit turns it's head away and falls over.
