As the only reveiws I see in the mags are years out of date and as lots of questions are asked about this gun I thought I would give it my best shot for a reveiw. I have a new 177 HW100 "T" and this is my first PCP. Starting at the buisiness end the moderator is aluminum and a screw fit . It's also on very tight, don't try to unscrew it whilst gripping the action, grip the barrel itself or you could damage the barrel to action fit. This moderator is super quiet and is amongst the best there is.The air cylinder is stainless and has a gauge at it's front end: it has to be removed to fill by unscrewing. this in the past has, from all accounts caused some problems with knackered threads in the ally receiver, this should not happen if care is taken when screwing the cylinder on, but the new 100s have a steel insert in the receiver so no problems should now exist at all. It is a 200 bar fill and with .177 at 11.6ft/lbs gives me approx 105 shots from the unregulated action, this is taking the pressure right down to 100 bar. No real diffference in shot placing was noticed over this range although I have not measured it exactly. Certainly for hunting purposes it's the same. I do not aim to swap this cylinder for the quick fill mod, I am happy with it as it is, although it would save a lot of weight on this very heavy rifle. The receiver is not too high above the barrel, so allowing a low sight line on the scope. The two stage trigger is to me as good as it gets, first pressure is just the right weight and smooth. The break on the second stage is crisp with no drag at all. Both are adjustable. The blade can be moved back a bit by unscrewing one coutersunk allen screw. The 14 shot magazine is simple, bomb proof, and easy to load and fit. There are two supplied. The side lever cocking is very easy to operate and is very smooth, two pellets cannot be fed into the barrel, repeated cocking does not rotate the magazine if the action has not been fired. The manual safety is where it should be and is silent to put on and off. It cannot be applied if the action is not cocked. Handy this if you have forgotten if you cocked it after the last shot, just lightly attempt to apply the safety if it won't got it's not cocked, this is much less movement than re cocking. I will not comment on the furniture, you either like it or hate it. "pretty it aint" I am not a lover of thumbhole stocks but after trying one on the range I was sold, it suits me although I am not too keen on its looks. I am sure Mr. Weihrauch is not going to be upset at this, I think the aim is function before beauty.
I fitted a Hawke 3-9 x50 illuminated mill dot scope which just clears the barrel on low mounts, I do like a nice low sight line. Zero at 35 mtrs gives me a first zero at 10 mtrs and the pellet rises not much more than 1 inch above the sight line at about 18mtrs. Aim points are 1mill dot up at 45 mtrs and one down at the 18 mtr mark with a magnification of 9X. I can not vouch for the super accuracy of this gun, I am not a good enough shot but I can get 1 hole groups at 10 mtrs and 2 pence groups at 30 mtrs. I have tried as many pellet types as my patience would allow and Accupells come ot best with my barrel. Tally so far is 12 rabbits five pigeons and three magpies. Killing with this gun is not dramatic, the 100 just gives that almost silent twangy click and 30mtrs away a rabbit turns it's head away and falls over.

I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and agree with what has been said by Peter, very nice rifle indeed, although I do query how you have managed to fit a 50 mm scope on 'low mounts', my Burris 3-9x40 with no PA only clears the barrel by a few millimetres on low mounts.

The only complaint I have, and its nothing to do with the rifle itself, is that after 7 fills of the cylinder the little rubber O ring has broken on the 300 bar filling adaptor rendering the whole gun useless for now as I cant fill it :(

When I said low mounts I meant "not high" I only have 2mm clearance. I have heard of this O ring splitting thing and I must admit it puzzles me, there are guys in the club with very early 100s and after hundreds of fills they have had no trouble. I too would welcome any feed back on this, someone in the forum must be an expert at O rings, (I SAID O RINGS)

Tried gluing it but it makes it worse, probably dangerous too  The rubber seems very brittle, maybe a dodgy batch thing.

Or you could get a venom cylinder?
Mine arrived today and is lighter and does away with having to take it off to fill.. Had it over the chrono and i still get the same amount of shots per charge..
great rifle as you say but a bit ugly in the thumbhole stock but does the job and that cocking mechanism is so effortless :)

Managed to get some new O rings from the guy over at Slough Dive Centre so problem sorted for now anyway. He did suggest wetting the O ring slightly each time you fill, makes sense I guess, it will help it to slip over the ring OOOEEERR!!!! misses :p
Lucky, would like to see some photos of your cylinder if poss, I have to say I am tempted, but not sure if I like the probe fill idea or the silencer extension, does it all look pleasing to the eye :)

Before I bought the venom bottle for my 100 I had a broken o ring it is a pain the gun shop gave a spare on the warranty and I had to buy the other one at 30 pence not a fortune but that problem is solved with the quickfill which makes the gun a joy on standing shots. My 12 year old daughter can get good groups at 30 metres now the gun is lighter. Take care.

The O-ring problem is supposed to be due to changing direction of screwing.(Ohh... err.. missus..!) ie, don't start to screw the cylinder in, then change your mind, and take it off again.

Hi
I fancy a HW100 and am interested in the Venum Cylinder. Where can I get more information and photo's of this product from, or even go and see one?
Do BAR stock them? I have looked on the Venum and Bar webb sites but have struggled to find any information on the Venum air cylinders.
Cheers
Nigel :D

My HW100 (.22 FAC) is the only air gun that I have owned where I have not played with trigger adjustments.

I had an FWB P30 pistol, so have a benchmark, and the HW100 is almost as good :)

Chris
PS, 29 degrees C here today, so the roof is down on the MX5 :D :D

I forgot to say when you buy the quickfill bottle you have to have a quick fill adaptor and guage which does bump the price up. I phoned venom when I bought mine and it arrived next day. I will post a picture of my gun so you can see the bottle but you need to feel the difference to appreciate it. Take care.

Do all the venom cylinders have the fill hole left open or do they make a cap to fit the end as i am surprised to see that getting debrit in the opening is not accounted for.

The Venom cylinder comes with 2 small plugs for those holes.

I took my 1 spare small o'ring to a bearing and seal supplier today and he let me have 2 dozen for a £1 which he put into the kids charity box.

I didn't get any plugs with my venom cylinder, I was thinking that this may be a problem in attracting dirt. Can you get these from any supplier?
Buggy2 I got my cylinder from BAR there is a pic of it fitted on the first page of ''MY STUFF'' below.

Still dont know why they cant be made with a removable cap like most others as surley the plugs will get lost over time  i did see someone that had made a wooden dowl fit in his but must admit it did look pretty pants.
Ps hurry up Hull cartridges and start listening to your customers and put pressure on getting All HW100s made with quick fill adapters.

Just had an e.mail from Lloyd at Blackpool Air Rifles.

He can get the plugs for you at about £6 each.
