View Full Version : Pete Jarret (2005)
I am sorry to have to inform members of the death of Pete (Wornspring) Jarrett.
Pete was a very active member of Redfearns Club and a competitor in many rounds of the U.K.H.F.T. series. Even when ill Pete would put 100% into every thing he did at the club and he is going to be greatly missed by everyone there.

I'm shocked. I knew Pete was not a well man but I didn't think he was that bad. My thoughts are with his family and friends, and he'll be very much missed at Redfearns.
Sorry to hear this, condolences to his family.
Regards,
Matt

I did not know Pete, but his user name stuck in my mind,so I did a 'post & thread search' and I was right in who I thought he was.
He was unbiased and very helpful to all whom he had contact with,I've gleened snippets of info from his posts. The thing that shocked Me most was that it was only 8 days ago that He was offering his condolences to Ronnie Barker and now he's been 'taken'.
RIP
What a true Gentleman he will be sadly missed a terrable shame my condolance's to his family.

Very sad news - I'm totally stunned!
I was only chatting to him the other week - a really nice genuine bloke and a credit to Redfearns and the sport as a whole. A sad loss.
If anyone is organising a collection for flowers, please let me know.

A sad loss to his family and friends a huge loss to Redfearns.
Pete although not a well man was trying to live his life to
the full.
As he told me a couple of weeks ago that when I go it
wont be sat about. I don't want to regret the things
I havn't done.What a wonderfull out look on life.
Pete was allways helpfull and when not helping out at
the club was usualy to be found in his shed tinkering.
Or more often than not making some gadget or other
for someone at the club.I have one of his side wheels
different to the norm but it does the job.Once again he
will be sadly missed.

Like Gary I can only echo what has been said.
To say he wasn't very well you would never had known it; his attitude to life was quite inspirational.
Very fond memories of sitting chatting to him and the friendly banter we use to enjoy.
A sad loss to the sport,
My condolences to family and friends
The funeral will be at 2 o'clock Tuesday 18/10/05 at Huddersfield crematorium
Petes wishes was for donations to be made to the (lifeboat appeal , or kidney research) rather than flowers,
we will be taking a collection at Redfearn Saturday and Sunday ,for anyone wishing to make a donation
all the proceeds from our club shoot on Saturday will go towards the donation
Everything has already been said , the is only thing I had to say ,Pete we are already missing you

I found out today the news of Pete.
It knocked me for 6!
When myself and a friend joined Redfearns a year ago, Pete was on hand from the start.
He spent a good few hours helping us zero our scopes and shimming the mounts.
Giving us pointers on our shooting or telling us a great tale and having a laugh.
He was a true old fasioned gentleman, eager to help anyone with the biggest heart of gold i have ever known in a man of such ill health.
He had such passion for the sport.
As someone said his attitude to life was inspirational
He will be sadly missed

I was a new member at Redfearns this year and was having trouble setting up my scope and
without asking for any help, this old gent called Pete could see I was struggling. Very quickly my scope was taken off and then he shimmed up the mounts with bits and pieces of brass from his magic tool box and I was set up.
A sad loss to Redfearns and to our sport.
My condolences to family and friends.

I, like many on this BBS, Never met or knew Pete but his screen name is certainly one of the ones i have known for years as one of the BBS "Good Guys". It seems from the posts on this thread he was highly thought of and very well respected in real life too.
My thoughts and prayers are with Petes family at this difficult time.

That is indeed sad news.
I had the great pleasure of shooting with him at the Lincoln round of UKAHFT this year - I found him to be a genuinely likeable man without a bad word to be said for anyone.
Our community will be the worse for his passing, but would do well to remember his spirit.
Rest in peace Pete
ps: I hope they sort you out with that punka walla you wanted... :)

Me too, He was always sat at the container when I turned up, seems really strange when he isn't there to say hello.
Very impressed to hear of the amount of money raised. Well done to everyone who donated.

Died in around 2005
I only met Pete a few times but his quiet demeanour and willingness to help everybody left a lasting impression. Pete attended the HFT and FT comps despite having had a serious of major health problems, and in his heart I think he knew he was on borrowed time.
As with many quiet guys he may not stick in many people's minds, but a top bloke.
Rest In Peace Pete
