Ok my new gun.

I'll start off my mini review with a thanks to BAR for their help.

The rifle is (as can be seen from the pics), beautiful. The walnut stock is first rate with a nice satin finish. This rifle is the best I've owned to date for feel and balance when in the shoulder. The channeling in the fore stock infront of the trigger really does fit perfectly and assist my style of standing shot.

The curved butt-plate is a nice touch, not only complimenting the curved features of the stock, but sits nicely in the shoulder. I have found this particularly beneficial for shooting at angles, up trees and the like. The thumb-hole is large enough and there is a position for shooting 'thumb up'

The action is coated in a satin black finish, I don't know what the coating is, but, I like it. It is smooth, non reflective and appears as tough as old boots.

The muzzle has the built in silencer which is threaded for an additional. If you turn the knurled cover the opposite way the internal aluminium 'baffle' can be removed. The external part of the silencer is drilled with backward facing holes, so the silencer becomes a MFC.

The action is regulated with the same reg fitted to the MK3, I've not had chance to check the number of shots per charge yet. The reservoir is filled to 232bar. There is also a pressure gauge underneath, which is handy.
I shot a 20 shot string through the chrono with the shots, using unsorted etc AA fields 4.52s. The shots varied between 780 - 783 ft/sec. At which point I stopped. That equates to about a steady 11.5 ft/lb.

The cocking seems lighter than my old X2 Sport, there is an annoying feel to the cocking on my rifle as if the bolt was being 'scratched' on something inside the bolt housing, I'll see if this smooths out or it's back to DS.

The trigger seems better too, a lot lighter and crisper than my earlier X2.

I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Ok, I've had the rifle out for a shooting session.

Accuracy is as you would expect. almost .177 size holes at 25 yards (the max I can shoot on my plinking range).

The built in moderator is pretty cack and needs an additional mod if stealth is what you're after. I found the HW100's moderator to be the most efficient, the logun and SFS carbon were a long way behing in hushing the report.

Below pics are of the 'in built' mod assembled and in it's component bits.

Sorry Dazz, i have to disagree with you there, the LE is a much nicer looking stock, i`m not just saying it cos i got one, even her in doors who is dead against guns, likes it. The action on my bolt is nice and smooth even if it does twitch a bit when firing. i fitted my Daystate airstream silencer to it and it didn`t make that much of a difference and it looked hidiously long aswell. As for accuracy, 85 yard targets at our range spot on shot after shot.

Dave, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one...::p I love walnut in all its natural beauty. I'm more of a traditionalist, if plywood is your bag then good luck to ya!!!... :D

Great rifles all the same (don't get it wet)

Hi Cliffy, I find the JSB 4.52 pellets the best in my rifle, Bisley Mags are also very accurate (again 4.52 head size).

I have tried the Daystate 4.53 size but these are a little tight and the groups are a little larger.

Update

I took the rifle up to Daystate - helpful people..:) to sort out a problem with what turned out to be the mag not the gun. The tread to unscrew the innards of the MFC were fixed with some locktight to stop it unthreading on its own, this only happened with an additional mod fitted.

Dunno about 85 yrds but it's a damn fine rifle...:D
