Question Question or two for them that know this kind of thing

Hi chas and chapessess.
First off, I have a nice crack around the pistol grip of my S200 (don't ask) I was thinking wood glue in a syringe injected into the crack, just to close it up, anything I should watch out for? Or a better way of doing it? I can't pin it as it hasn't separated fully (yet).

Finally, has anyone fiddled with the standard S200 moderator to make it into a reflex style mod? I was thinking removing the lip on the end section to allow it to slide further up the barrel, and doing away with the first spring and hair curler, anything else that will need doing to make this work?

Cheers,
Ali.

you could probly inject the glue, then tighten the nut underneif to close the gap up. good luck (your gunna need it )

After hearing about the incident with the stone floor and your lil' bro, i would have thought you shiny new MK3 would be bombproof
(u should of got a MK2, 20mph off the back of a quadbike and still running perfectly. aint bad. )

Good Luck

If the crack is narrow I would get some superglue in it as normal pva type wood glues may not get all the way in.

Use polyurethane glue such as Wurth. try to get a thin blade in to open the crack to get the glue in (be careful!) you will need to clamp up the stock whilst it goes off,as the glue will expand a little to get into any gaps.Or you could use mitre-fix (superglue) if the crack is'nt too bad, though not as durable as the above glue.
Good luck,Atb,Woody.

Super glue it is. (all I can find) Is the flat end cap on the S200 moderator theaded or pull off? I've heated it but it won't come off.

Hi Ali, if this happened to my S200 I would complete the break, and use
mitre-fix two part superglue.

You will never be sure your glueing has covered the inside completely
and the other side may still be weak.

Too late, glue has dried pretty solid now. But thankfully it isn't all the way through the grip, only about half, and it still has that effing great bolt through the grip to hold it together.

Consider the advice given on some yank forum: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/....php?p=3705841. I didn't know that the rawhide repair was considered to be only a temporary repair but at least there is some good advice regarding modern glues.
