I'm not certain but I think it's probably a 20mm wide rail with a 60 degree dovetail, the same as the Pilkington Kite.

Susat

The S.U.S.A.T sight is good for a combat rifle over a certain power level but I wouldn,t recommend it for a hunting air rifle. It was designed and built to kill and maim human beings. The purpose of maiming being the involvment of other resources in casualty recovery. A good battlefield strategy but not what a hunter hopes to achieve in the field ie. clean first shot kill.Be smart, military kit is for one purpose hunting kit is for another only sniper gear ( V expensive) crosses this divide don,t go around thinking that because the MOD bought it it's good. If you've ever fired an SA80 you'll know that's not true.

Cheers for the replies, I dont actualy want to mount a susat,I'm thinking about fitting the carry handle with diopter sight on a HW100 and then making up a clamp on front sight. if its one of the rails mentioned above then i should be able to switch between iron sights,night vision and scope fairly easily (hopefuly with no zero loss).
also the increased hieght of the carry handle sights should give the correct head allignment when used with a stock that is designed for scope use.
Just another crazy winter project <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="Roll Eyes" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
cheers

Here is a botched up pic of what it may look like.http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/3fd58...ziE2_AADKsv8kY

The handle/sight is from an M4A3 and would require a picatinny rail adapter to fit and the front sight is a fold down affair.

There are millions of gizmos and mounts etc to fit this rail including quick release scope mounts that dont lose zero when removed and refitted.

Just an idea at the moment but any comments would be appreciated!!
Cheers

According to our resident guru, Sid, the 'Picatinny' rail is just the set of specifications to which 'Weaver' rails are made for the US and other militaries. If there's anything I want to know about sights (day or night), I ask Sid.

I'm not a guru I'm a Gnu <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

Carry handle - fine idea. Just make sure that you obtain a rail which is Picatinny spec so that the cross slots are definitely in the right place.

One problem you'll have to overcome is that if the foresight is fixed then your day or NV scope will be pointing straight at it ( unless you use crazily high mounts).
To get round this problem it could fold away, or sit on it's own little weaver mount, to be clipped on when you fit the handle.

How about one long piece of Picatinny rail covering the top of the gun ? then you can have an NV monocular looking through a forward mounted red dot sight for ratting.

PS - A SUSAT has just sold on #### for £320 !!!! <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_eek.gif" alt="Eek" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
