10th Anniversary of Royal Visit to Dartmoor Marksmen FTC

Yes, I know the date. However, Sunday is also the tenth anniversary of Sunday 30th March in 1997. Some of us will never forget that day but for those who never knew about it, this Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the Royal Visit to our club in SWEFTA.

Has any other club had such a visit? There’s nothing like promoting the sport at a high level!

Actually, now I think about it – I know about “By appointment to the HM Queen” but is there such a thing as “By appointment to the Royal Family” and would this qualify? Just musing to myself …….. The Royal Dartmoor Marksmen Field Target Club ……. Would that be possible? I never thought about it then.

It is interesting to see the faces that were in Dartmoor Marksmen back then - one of them has just returned, too. Wow - what a handsome fellow they picked for December – and how the ravages of time (and HFT camp sites) take their toll! Never mind, some good fun was had ………
