If it's the standard removeable stubby silencer then there's no commercial adapter. When I had a Skan a friend made one for me using a Logun Falcon adapter. This was drilled and tapped to 1/8" BSP which is the thread used for the Skan silencer. It was then cut to length, rebated and knurled. There's a picture of it at http://www.hurwitt.plus.com/Airguns/skan-logun.jpg. My friend wasn't willing to make more than the one, unfortunately.

If anyone does want to copy this I've a set of three good quality 1/8" BSP taps that would like a good home.

Skan Silencer

IF there ain't an adaptor for the Logun already, Call Simmons and ASK if they can have one made to fit the Logun to the Skan, for you. Better yet, IF you've time, send the Skan silencer to Dave, at Target Sports of Bolton and ask him to either make the Logun adaptor for you or better still, have him make you a PROPER silencer to screw direct to the Skan's barrel for you. Or you can ask Sandwell Field Sports either to make a Skan fit silencer or adaptor, the choice is yours. The fitted one look's a hell've lot better than an adaptor plus Logun.

Saddle Tramp.

PS. I got both of mine made to fit the Skan barrel, from Sandwell Field Sports. Take's a devil of a LONG time, IF you need one in brushed alluminium. Blacked to match the Skan, not so long AND an 8 - 10 inch silencer fitted makes the Skan look really ANGRY! S.T.

Hey Jonathan - That's my rifle!!

Bad news for the question at hand though, as it's the new "ultra" style silencer which is essentially part of the chassis for the rifle and hence unremovable.

The last model made with a removable silencer was the r32 - just unscrewed to leave a 1/8" threaded barrel.

Unfortunately I'm yet to hear of a successfully converted "ultra" to take a new silencer.

I know it's unappealing (by virtue of him being a grumpy git) but I think the only option available to you is to ring Mike Childs and see what his take is.

He'll probably just insist that the rifle is perfectly quiet enough as it is already, and that you're a heathen for suggesting other wise

ATB,

Dan

I hadn't looked at Jason's site when I posted but you're right - he's stuffed. And your description of Mike Child's attitude is spot on.

It's your gun now but it wasn't even Steve's when I took that photo in November '02. And it looks like my scope coming back to me...

HI,
ive seen one with a silencer on,and it sounded (or not as was the case)perfect,so i know it can be done,i just havn't seen the bloke for a while,(typical aint it)
ive had an airarms one on the end today, very quiet but the adapter i made up (in a rush) caused the pellets to make a spread like a shot gun,
taking the silencer off and leaving the adapter on left it shooting the same,
its a superb rifle anyway, but as you all will know too loud without being hushed for serious field work,
i guess il phone around and see,but i may also pop into a few local engineering factorys and ask,
it will not beat me

thanks guys

JASON..

If you're after a silencer adapter, the best thing I can suggest wou;d be to contact Leupy off this BBS. So far he's made me two UNF silencer adapters for my S410 and S200. Both look simply gorgeous and are very well made.

If you can supply him with pics and accurate measurements, he could probably whip something up for you. I recommend him. Best that you e-mail him first and ask whether or not he can help.

HI,
well ive sorted it ,i think
i went to a firm about 1/2 mile from home and they turned me an adapter,
it cost £5 for 2 different designs !
the rifle groups single holes (although 15 yds aint much)
and was ok from 200 bar down to 50 bar with no flyers so i recon ive got it sorted,
the silencer is from my airarms s300,and is good enough for now,but i know it can be quieter,so im saving the pennies again
ive put 2 pics on my skan site of the adapter and rifle with silencer fitted,

thanks guys,

JASON..http://skan.mysite.freeserve.com

I had the same when I got my new Skan a month ago, I had Dowlings turn me an adapter & fitted their Carbon silencer, MUCH quieter than the logun

I can confirm that. I phoned His Lordship to find out why my Skan Mk-II was slam-firing and apparently it was my fault for not working the thing correctly.
Seems that you need to operate the pump action firmly for the first 3\4's of it's stroke ( if you don't it jams ) but then apply a braking action or the sear is bounced out of engagement and the thing discharges as soon as the grip reaches the end of it's travel.
I found that completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous, so I took the horrible thing to bits and threw its parts into different corners of my workshop. Maybe I can recycle some of the junk into a useful airgun one day, was a painful lesson spending £300 to find out what a piece of crap the pump action Skan is.

Probably he's got the grip cocking sorted out nowadays, but the pump action is a disgrace. I think the bloke is very clever, but in all other respects a complete gob on a stick. I won't buy another Skan while I have a hole in my *rse.
