Southern Hunters Round 4 Results - M.A.D
With the bar having been set high by the first three rounds, the crew from Maldon had their work cut out to put on a good show - which they did and very well. The weather, allbeit a bit on the cold side first thing, was not too bad and we even had a bit of sunshine, though not much of it. Terry rang me in the week to say they had set the course and all the strings were crossed and the targets all sat at 45 yards
, what we found when it was shot, was a very well thought out course which was really enjoyable to shoot, top job lads . We had 2 platinum Winners today, Chris Coombes and myself (wahey ), there will be a good few up for top honours next time at Ford Ranges - i will post a list once i have worked out who is on it![]() In all the day was a great success, so a big well done to Ian and Terry + their team at M.A.D, also to Ryan for a great 59 and to Larissa in the juniors for a new PB of 58 .Open Gold Ryan Charlton 59 Martin Slane 58 Mark Andrews 58 Richard Woods 58 John Murray 57 Steve Light 57 Clive Presland 56 Andy Simpson 56 Roger Bentley 56 Gary Chillingworth 56 Gary Morrison 56 Guy Gillies 56 Kyle Hampton 56 Tim Bohr 56 Richard Chase 55 Geoff Ryder 55 Roger Lait 55 Matt Rawlings 55 Silver Garry Kingaby 54 Jonathon Major 54 Ralph Presland 54 Dave Bowles 54 Cliff Hill 53 Dave Lillywhite 53 Mike Isaac 53 Derek Watson 53 Les Marshall 53 Mike Carney 53 Jennie Stone 52 Simon Parker 52 Mike Byford 51 Chris Boulton 51 Ray Hampton 51 Rob Simpson 50 Spencer Hayward 50 Alan Grayson 50 Lee Banham 50 Bronze Bill Hall 48 Mike Hazlelwood 48 John Turnbull 48 Charles Coxsedge 48 Ollie Wadcock 48 Chris Sutcliffe 47 Wayne Marriot 47 Terry Blackman 47 Tony Ward 47 Alan Rowe 47 Gedas Girzadas 46 Paul Foyle 46 Greg Hansman 45 David Stephenson 45 Mick Reed 44 Steve Crowther 44 Matt Smith 43 Chris Saunders 43 Siobhan Hobden 42 No Award Len Brede 40 Lewis Gent 39 Dave Winter 39 Mike Hyde 39 Nick Bishop 38 Louise Bignall 37 Eric O'Donovan 36 Jean Greatrex 35 Recoiling Gold Darren Lindsay 54 Silver Basil Meacher 49 Tony Dunford 49 Steve Gillies 48 Darren Quincey 46 Ray Rogers 46 John Dunford 45 Jeff Westley 45 Bronze Dave Hard 43 Paul Fletcher 42 Chris Gent 41 Simon Vant 41 .22 Gold Chris Coombes 53 Silver Simon Jones 47 Colin Sykes 47 Bronze Chris Norris 40 Juniors Gold Larissa Sykes 58 Craig Grayson 55 Scott Grayson 55 Connor Andrews 52 Steve Jones 52 Silver Stuart Gould 47 Greg Hensman 46 Sabrina Kingaby 44 Bronze Ben Rawlings 40 No Award George Vant 28 See you all on the 25th of Jan at Ford Ranges for Round 5.

I don't know .......... I watched him inexplicably plate that MAD target.
What made it worse was Craig telling him how he should have shot it .... stupid boy! ... no tact. There were quite a few who were having a mare, funny enough I plated no 6, easy 40mm shot, I watched the pellet strike the paddle ........ someone said there might have been ice on it

Well done to all at SH and MAD for a good round dahn in Essix.
It was a good honest course, with no trickery or silliness in the way of cages etc , just very clever positioning of the targets, excellent use of terrain and trees. It all seemed very innocuous, yet nobody managed to clear it![]() I think in the back of my mind was the effect of the stiff Arctic breeze out on the zero range, the question was how much to give it in the woods ![]() hehe. Thanks to good old Clubshot for the lift, and to my shooting partner Mr Nibbley for the company After some intensive coaching from me, Darren managed to learn how to get a consistent hold on that gnarly old twanger he was using![]() Seriously, top shooting mate, without the inexpicable misses from the master(could it have been that it was f~~~~n cold ), I reckon the Dazzer would have been on for a 57+ with the springer!![]() The course was so interesting that I even disagreed with Nibbley (tut-tut ) over some ranges after we shot them, and still weren't 100% sure about them. Now that's good course setting

Thanks all at MAD that was the type of course I really enjoy even without a cage!
![]() It was obvious a lot of thought had gone into the layout and it was nice to have so much space between the pegs.Ryan

. What a proper day out. I do ache a bit...think the cold might have got into my joints. Nice bath and a glass of red seemed to do the trick. Thanks to all at MAD, a cracking time. LAity

Indeed there was plenty of space... but not quite enough to get a healthy distance from the heckling from Matt and Charles!
