Sentinel 6.5x47 lapua
Though not to everones taste here's a new toy primarily for tactical competitons in the US - but I bleieve thater are European ones?
The rifle was built by Terry Cross of KMW ( http://kmwlrs.com/ ) who not only builds excellent rifles but is a top competitor in tactical and snipers comps and a very nice guy to boot! Rifle spec: Surgeon short repeater action. Bartlien 1:8 5C barrel chamberd 6.5x47 Lapua Stock and bottom metal Terry's new Sentinal design - very comfortable, ambidetrous and the bottom metal mag release is the best I've tried to date 9uses trigger finger). S&B PM2 5-25 P4F ret. scope in Seekins rings TAB Gear sling (another good product). http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1.../Sentinel1.jpg Only picked the rifle up Saturday, pissing down here on Sunday so poped up a local farm to give it a quick try using some cloned Lapua factory loads to sight in then a selection of loads using R15 & 123g Scanars. Let's say it looks very promising. Not going to post group size as (with tongue firmly in cheek here) posting a group is like masturbation - it's very pleasing and shows that things work - but does not really prove anything ![]() .Going to shoot the best 'ad hoc' load next weekend at a local match see how things go, it needs to shoot this good at 150+ rounds so should know by end of the next weekend. Very pleasant Terry.
Surgeons are a great action to start with and the stock has all the atributes of the A5 with refinements in the right places. A shame they are not available here, I tried to get one out of Terry two years ago....when they were first announced. Neen shooting a "47" myself for the last 3 years - you will like it, its ideal for tac comps. (no recoil, better ballistics than the 308 and cheap to reload) You may want to try varget under the scenars, its a bit more stable and differs less bettween lots. I use 39g = 3000 fps with single digit es. Like you say no point posting groups, they prove nothing. However as you have mentioned accuracy, mine was an own build, I used a LW match tube in an 8 tw. It shot low 3's when it was created and 3000 + rounds later still does - barrel life and wear appear very good upon examination thru borescope. Yes there are plenty of comps in europe, mainly in Czech Republic and some in Slovakia I can put you on to if youre interested. There is one running next week in CZ, but its too late for entries now. A group of us usually go across at least once a year to enter, you may have seen write ups in the Target Sports mag.. |

Redmist,
Thanks for the input and yes I would like some info on the Czech comps i.e. typical stage information, distances, target sizes etc. to obtain a 'taste' of what's required in the way of kit, I'm familiar with the US end but the 6 P's applies to having an enjoyable time. The Sentinel stock is very nice, I handled one a year or so ago and was good for me. Terry's been developing this for a while with a lot of good imput and it shows. There were some avaiable off the shelf if you are still intertested: http://kmwlrs.com/Stocks%20for%20sale.htm but they tend to 'go' as soon as they are advertised. I'm going to try some Varget under 139's in development to see who things god along with 123's over R15 and N150 (factory load is 37g of N150 under 123's, slow but very accurate). Early days! Cheers Terry |

Terry
dont want to steal your post re the rifle. However, here are a few links to various write ups of the comps we have attended If this takes you to the precision rifle home page, click the extreme stuff link nd scroll down. http://www.precisionrifle.co.uk/ Robs own site, write up of the Hungary comp http://www.precisionrifle.co.uk/ One day we may get one in the UK, but cost, location H&S issues et al are factors that preclude it. |

hell of a rifle
I nearly wet myself when I saw this. What is the real chance of getting my hands on one of these or even the stock. This is probably the best rifle I have ever claped eyes on

Terry, firstly I hate you and you're a show off
if they had a envy smiley I would have used itSecondly, are you sure the factory scenars are N150, I only ask as friend of mine emailed Lapua and was told N140. Nice rifle, but you already know that.

Elwood,
If you got it flaunt it ![]() , really pleased with this rifle, confortable and built for purpose - long range scalpel I'll get up to one of the bisley shoots next year - you can have a play!Pretty certain on the N150, from the UK distributor and a fairly knowlegable shooter/reloader. The load pretty much matches the factory velicities. Dorg, The stocks are now available but go pretty quick see: http://kmwlrs.com/Stocks%20for%20sale.htm Brgds Terry |
