bsa lightning xl review 1.77
hi , yes i know what your thinking another bsa lightning review , so here goes , i wanted another springer {got a bit bored of my phnematics }, and ive had a few in the past , and i can only say what i see and think about this gun , well i looked and looked at all the guns on the market hw 57 95 98 , gamos ,aa , webleys i wasnt going to be swayed by keeping up with everyone else if it felt good to hold i was going to have it ,and the one that i just kept going back to look at was the bsa lightning xl, reminded me a bit of a mercury carbine i had , not looks , but a nice short compact gun , so i bought one and a tin of rws pellets , put bsa mounts on it and a 3-9x40 scope , the stock is lovely , nice feel and hand position on the trigger , and the trigger is cracking , might be based on a gamo trigger , but it is nice , and adjustable , so i decided to zero it in in the garden , my back garden is 100 ft long , 33 and a bit yards , so i can zero at 10 yards and work my way back to 30 yards ,first thing i noticed was how well locked in place the barrel was , needs a nice tap to break it ,and cocking is quite easy for such a short gun , kids might find it a bit tought , my webley carbine was a lot harder to cock , then i put a pellet in it and thats where the trouble started , most of the pellets i have were tight in the barrel , to tight and hard to push in , air arms to big .52, rws super dome to big , milbro caledonian still a bit big , i thought oh my god . and it didnt like to shoot them at all , i was having problems grouping them , by this time i was getting fed up and wished id bought a hw or some kind , you cant really go wrong with a weihrauch , then i zeroed it with the accupel and what differance this made , grouping lovely now , the more i shot it the better it got , hitting a 2 pence piece at the bottom of my garden and putting a nice dent in it lol all i can say now is im well impressed with this gun, and my friend put a nice 20 pence group together at 30 yards with it,{better shot than me } so just to finish off , good value for money , you get a silencer in the price , nice stock and a very good trigger , easy safty catch to use , and some nice bsa touches to the finish , but thats just cosmetice , the gun shoots as well as anything else ive tried apart from the really expensive guns like tx,s and 97's , i think there is only one other gun to compare in this price class and thts the hw 95k which is a great gun , so well done bsa for making the lightning xl as tom cruise would say a top gun lol

Interesting ~ in my .22 XL Crosman acuppels were the loosest thing I tried! They fell right into the breech
& easily dropped out again Have you tried any 4.50 sized .177s?

Give Daystate FT (4.51) pellets a try, since I've found these to suit a tight barrel, and give excellent accuracy. I've tried AA fields and Bisley Magnums in 4.51, but they are both a tight fit compared to the Daystate.
