    Pistol Comps @ LV

Had a number of enquiries about this so I`ve pasted some info below. These comps are open to all comers as long as your pistol falls the right side of 6ftlbs.

The Pistol comps take place first Saturday of each month. The three classes are , Open (sights), Red Dot and Scoped.

The targets are special knock down ones that are easier to knock down than the standard rifle ones and are usually set out from 8-25 yds. There are ten targets that are shot five times. They`re placed in bushes and any awkward positions the setters can find.

The Open class is a varied selection including , Rohms,HW45s,Ratbustersand even some East European match pistols. All using open sights.

The Red dot class has Falcons,Styers,Ratbusters,Sheridan EBs etc. Basically anything you can bolt a red dot to.

The Scoped class has Falcons and a Rohm at the moment. It must be a pistol scope though.

Stances are as HFT , Standing, kneeling and prone , although in the future (a couple of months time) it will only be standing.

Trophys for 1st 2nd and 3rd in each class.

At present there is quite a following for the HW40 and hopefully in the future it will have its own class. Also the club (LV) now has a speed plate set up that has attracted a lot of interest. Five plates out to around 15yds with an “off” switch on one. When the buzzer sounds , start firing , hitting plate five last to stop the clock. Again guns used have been varied and quite differing in power and cost. I use a Baikal Makarov firing lead “BB”. Other guns have included Smith and Wessons, Desert Eagles, Walther CPs etc.

Hope this is useful and look forward to some new faces.

I'm pretty sure the only limitation on scopes is that they must be maximum of 4x mag. I'd like to see it restricted to pistol scopes to stop the FT-ish position being used with a rifle scope. I know a few of us would like to see the same position banned for the red dot class too.
