    Thumbs up air rifle power

i have just been shooting my aa s400 and decided to take the silencer off . i had just cronoed it and it was doing 790 fps with aa 4.52s. anyway as soon as i shot it with out the can the point of impact went up the target about 2 inch .iwas just wondering if this will put it over the limit and do the makers crono them with no can .and is this why we hear of guns haveing low power as we test them with a silencer fitted . just a thought. anyone shed any light on this 177

790 I am sure the technobods on here will soon reply but I would guess that a velocity of 790 fps for .22 is well over the limit!

Hi the point of impact should not have moved that much I have owned 3 s400s taking the silencer of makes only a few ftps difference I THINK with no weight on the front of the barrrel you have had muzzle flip, ANT.

Its the weight of the mod pulling down the POI. But, 790 fps with a 4.52 is too close to the limit, on a warm day it will go FAC.

Bit confused. your gun seems to be doing in the region of 22 fpe.

Taking the silencer off will allow the barrel to rise slightly therefore raising your point of impact.

    Check your chrono figures.

Phil, try with Bis Mags and see what you get. They are probably the most efficient .177 pellet being the more heavy. 790ft/sec with AA Fields is about 11.6+ FPE.
With or without the mod shouldn't make much noticeable difference IMO.

Out of interest, how old is the rifle?

It's quite common for a silencer to affect the POI in any direction, try rotating it on the barrel, and see what happens.

It is 5.2 according to the poster.
No wonder he's got problems hammering them into a 4.5 barrel.

silencers often change the poi ,which is why some people don't like em,
personaly i never shoot without one on, so it be ok
but if i were to ever target without it on and then go hunting id expect to have to resight the scope in,
you were lucky as your poi just seemed to go up,it couldv'e gone left, right ,low ect,
do a full fill chrono, not just a few shots and post your numbers,
let us all have a lau....look
EDIT:...gus just beat me to it,
my t.d.r shoots like im in the dambusters unless i turn the silencer 180*, then it shoots thumnails at 50 yd's

Hey, that's true Dave, I owe the guy an apology.
