    Buying Your First Airgun

When you bought your first airgun were you A) "assisted" by an experienced source. e.g. Club or friend or B) "unassisted" e.g. plunged straight in and bought whatever took your fancey?

Unassisted, aged 21, trusted what my local dealer told me and never looked back.

Had the HW99 for years and have bought all my guns from him ever since.

Oh just one thing if you could post what you bought then it would help. The idea of this poll was to see what people bought first time around and to see if this was the target audience for Chinese rifles.

Oh I bought a B4 underlever pile of dog dirt!

Like I say, my first was the HW99.

    But.

A mate of mine bought a B2 as his first gun from a place in york. asked me to come and help him zero it (he had a hawke 4x40 scope) because he couldn't hit a thing.

Guess what? Neither could I! Took the scope off to use the iron sights and still no joy. We couldn't work out what was wrong until I had a good look at the barrel and laid it flat on a table - it was actually bent by a few degrees in the middle!

First airgun I bought, not the first I'd owned, was a second hand Theoben Sirrocco Grand Prix. I recently bought the exact same rifle back after selling it on about five years ago.

    Unassisted,

Got a Webley Eclipse from a dealer and have had 3 rifles off of him since.
    I'm back.

    Bought a 2nd (probably 4th) hand Original Model 50 in .22

    'see it/buy it syndrome'

    'big lead best syndrome'

When it got nicked the insurance money / finding the BBS put me on the right track.

Luckily I never read the magazines or I'd have thought an SMK was just as good as a AA400

First was an airsporter bought by good old Dad. Fantastic

Best part of 30 yrs later bought an HW80 unassisted. Complete dog, but like any HW could have been saved. Now only buy after careful consideration and talking endlessly to other members at Ford - or complete impulse.

HI All, If it wasn't for the kind people who helped me choose my set up, I would have bought a custom B2, only because of a lack of knowledge.
I am more than happy I took the advice on offer and bought a HW 95K.
