Now considering the test cert says 11.5 with field an target tophys is sombody tellin porkys?. Not really consistent hence its being returned to McAvoys tomm morn, as i now have lost confidence in the rifle i will be asking for a different rifle i think maybe a rapid 7 m2.
I dont think it should happen that a rifle that was supposed to have been tested should have to go back for repair..
    End of rant.

    Tin,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the HW100.

Would seem a pity to move away from such a great rifle. No chance
it is something silly like a barrel clean?

    Tin,

TAke it back and see if they will replace it with another one.

They really are a toprifle when they are shooting right.

Utokin2 and myself both shot ours in an HFT comp last week and they really are excellent.

From my guesstimation thats only a 20fps spread in .177 cal. With un-weighed pellets and an un-calibrated chrono I can't see what your problem is.

Its a .22 and at the beginning of the 200 bar charge it puts out 11.3-11.7.
If it was just 20fps in .177 i wouldnt be too bothered but to have the charge go from high to low is the opposite of what you would expect.

It's even less in .22. But you never mentioned 11.7 from 200Bar...
What is it like lower down the charge - say @ 120Bar?

Well said - I think too many of us are too high in our expectations of our airguns and get too fixated on things that really aren't going to make a noticeable difference to our shooting.

'Chronoitis' seems to breed this - "I have a 20 FPS spread / is only putting out 11.5 Lb/Ft" etc

Perhaps it would be better to focus on things that could make a difference - trigger technique / breathing control / range estimation ?

So assuming you are using AA Fields in .177.

    10.62 ftlbs equates to 768fps
    11.04 ftlbs equates to 783fps

    15fps difference across the range.

Nealsey... he said it's a .22 I reckon he's getting a spread of about 18fps over 20 shots, that's way too much, as .22s usually give a smaller spread than .177s

HW100's are loaded with grease on the internals.

It might benefit from a de-gunking session.

If you are unhappy get it back to Hull Cartridge and get them to strip it and sort it.

You mentioned that it was accurate ?

Please define this. Is it single holing at 35 Yards in the sitting position.

If so, please remember that FPS variation plays second fiddle to accuracy. What happens to your group at 55 yards on a still windless day. if it is still tight, dont worry about FPS.

I would rather have a rifle with 20fps variation that hits the X than one with 1fps that is pepper potting.

My HW100 was also running hot - backed it off to 11.4 (or similar) and found it running at 10.3 the other day. Accuracy (in terms of grouping) was as good as ever ?

I would shoot groups and a couple off tins of pellets 1st before going to the chrono.
And them only out of curiosity or if there was a problem grouping.
