The thread of the stud needs to be fully into the stock.
It must not stick out through the stock so shorten it if it does.

DO NOT DRILL YOUR STOCK WITH THE ACTION IN THE STOCK.
(Sorry if you know, but reservoirs have been drilled before today)

The stud for the fore end is shorter so it doesn't touch the cylinder. You must take the action out of the stock when you drill, as you don't want to drill into the cylinder..!

How long is the thread on the stud? I've only fitted 1 before and it was about 10mm, so providing you haven't chosen a narrow part of the stock e.g. a bit of the stock that is too thin for the thread of the QD stud screw into without popping out the other side.

To fit just make a small hole in the stock with a very small drill bit, This is important, make sure the drill bit is considerably smaller in diameter to the thread on the stud, otherwise if you drill the hole too wide the stud wont screw in securely. Its best to just drill a small hole and assess if its going to accommodate the thread, then if it looks a bit tight/shallow open it up a bit but proceed with cation!

Also some Bipods need the Stud to be in a particular direction, if you screw the stud in with care you can get it facing in the direction you require

    All the best,
    Sam
