depends on what you want ie.. durability or cosmetic, gloss or matte, quick and easy or loads of time loads of patience..
I have aquired an old, but nicely shaped stock to put on my S400. It's in need of refinishing at the moment, and somewhere along the line it's lost the recoil pad.
The pad itself would appear to have been a wegu type as the butt still has the plate with the groove fitted.
I've been looking on the kingstonwholesale site for a new pad but they list 2 measurements for them
here
I emailed them to ask where the measurements were taken, but after a week there has been no reply . Does anyone here know what the measurent is?
Also...... whats the best way to refinish a stock? it looks like it's been varnished at some point.
thanks in advance

I was *thinking* of a gloss black finish.
That would look nice with the s400 action, and the stock has a little bit of brass work on the adjustable cheek piece. but the pistol grip area would be left alone because of the stippling.
