    Field Target Scope.

Would a Hawk Sidewinder 6.5-26x52 Scope be suitable for Field Target Shooting? Please Advise.

They have very mixed reviews, mostly bad. Personally, I think 32X is the minimum for rangefinding, the Bushnell or Burriss 8-32X can be used for HFT as well, but they are expensive. A Big Nikko, BSA 60 or Tasco Custom shop is more of an FT starter scope, from about £250 S/H. There have been good reports about a make called "Zos." Try a search on that one.

If you already own the scope then set it up and try it out ,but I suggest the same a Gus buy a BSA Big 10-50x60/Nikko Big 10-50x60/Tasco Custom Shop 8-40x56 - 10-50x56/Bushnell 8-32/Burris 8-32 for £250-£300

Then after those scopes you start paying serious money £350 - £800 +

Its not ideal - but if you already have it dont let it put you off.

Get out there and shoot, have alook at and through what everyone else uses, they will be only too pleased to show you and then make your mind up.

The trick just start shooting and upgrade the kit as you go.

HFT shooters can shoot 100% scores at 45 yd with very moderate kit indeed - FT just includes a few targets 10 yards further. Dont worry about the long ones until you can hit everything up to 45 yards.

    Hi
Look at my posts regarging Zos Side wheels. Then go on E**y type this number 7224347745 Go to their shop They also do a 10x40x42 + Mounts . Give them a mail they are very helpful. Also ask for the 11mm mounts. The turret caps are of a Deben Mill Pro. The sidewheel is same as the sidewinder. You can get these on Optics warehous £17 The zos is better than both.
Here's the company who makes them http://zos.en.alibaba.com/aboutus.html

I use 1 of these for FT, I do appear 2 have 1 of the better one's, the only time it let's me down is when shooting into darker woodland, so am moving 2 a big Nikko.
So if you have 1 already, or have been offered 1 for under £120, go with it for now, if not I would recommend something with at least 30/35 mag for range finding/light gathering.
