    Big Cat's On The Shoot.

I found this in the paper today.Has anyone else got a story to share?

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...087641,00.html

One night about 15yrs ago I had just pulled out of the BP truckstop on the A5 at Crick in Northamptonshire at about 1.30 am.I was heading north up a fairly big hill (Rolls Royce Eagle Power) when I saw a slinkey black shape cross the road about 200 yds in front of me.I was sitting well of the ground in the cab of a 38t twin headlamp 24 volt Leyland Roadtrain so I got a pretty good look at it.Way to big for a mink and it did not move like a dog.

I have not seen one while out don't want to while holding a .177 sub 12 foot/punder. But I got this new rabbit shoot at a gliding club a few weeks back . As we were going round the airfield in the groundsman's 4x4 he stopped and pointed to a wood that runs along one of the boundrys.

'Thats where I have seen our Leopard' he sys 'It is jet black & the size of a large dog. I feel those eyes looking right through me....'. He goes on to say how it's been seen all over the area, leaves bits of chewed up deer around etc...

I know it's probably him having a wind up & laughs about it with his mates at the local. But it's not exactly what you want in your head as your sneaking up on a warren at midnight with the old NV.

I know someone who bread show cats, they had this cream male British Shorthair that weighed 35 pounds, and it wasn't fat!

It's the biggest cat I have ever seen and she told me that neighbours had reported seeing a Tiger when he was out for a stroll

It's not uncommon for breeders to have large males as they select for size, among other things, this particular cat is in at least 40% of British Shorthair pedigrees. If you ever see a pedigree certificate for a British Shorthair cat then look for 'Grand Champion Zildijan Lionheart'

    Cheers

Has there been any reported attacks on humans? I get the impression that a big cat is more likely to avoid human contact.

Saw one about 6 years ago in a field across the road from us in the Forest of Dean.

It was quite far away and I had been looking at it slinking along the hedgerow when I realised that it looked like a normal black domestic cat but must have been the size of a small labrador.

Then it went through the hedge and disappeared.
    I hope I didn't brain my damage

    Warwickshire cats

My main shoot is in Birdingbury near Rugby, according to the landowner a nearby zoo in southam which shut a few years ago was gonna be forced to destroy some of the animals which could not be re-homed. Not liking this prospect the owner decided to release some of her animals. over the past 10 yrs or so numerous sightings have been made around the area of LARGE black cats with huge tails, some by the landowner, one very close sighting by his daughter and so far 2 by myself and shooting buddy. We understand these cats to be pumas but if anyone knows any different id love to know??

Three years ago now I was returning from fishing the river Teme at Bransford to my sister's place in Evesham on the old A44. About 2 miles out of Evesham and still very much in the country I saw a dark shape slink off the road and into the hedgerow about 100 yards in front of my car. It was twilight at the time. This was way too big to be any normal cat. It moved, however, just like a cat. I am certain that it was not a dog. I immediately slowed but by the time I got to the point where the creature had entered the hedgerow it had disappeared. When I got back my sister told me that there have been many sightings of "big cats" in the vale of Evesham.

I remember watching the same documentary that les mentioned earlier. It was proven beyond doubt, the programme was filmed in devon if my memory serves me correctly. DNA analysis was carried out various fur samples found near fences along the cats runs, these samples turned out to be from lynx and puma.

I always thought that the sightings were always fronm down south but the newspaper articlel mentions loads in scotland!
