i agree with this, personally both eyes open until the last moments before the shot.

With one eye shut unecessary tension can build up, 2 eyes helps because you have a greater FOV, field of view/vision.

    all three

To aquire the target with heavy magnification I use one eye. Once target aquired and ranged I shoot with two eyes. In total that makes three !
    Helps for several things :
Making sure line of fire is free and noone pops up from behind the bushes
    Checking my spirit(s) level
    Reducing muscular strain and squinting
Keeping second eye on target when it runs flies or is blown away or over
In any case find out what your dominant eye is and hope it is not the third one.

No, Pete. That's the 'Welsh sheep' expression and has nothing to do with correct rifle shooting technique, mate - as you, Kev and Baahbara well know.

Both eyes open - in some FT comps you are timed and having the Butler creek as mentioned by Ken you will have to bring your head right back from the gun to see the range on the sidewheel - this will add time to the shot.

The non scope eye can also keep an eye on the windicator for last second changes in the wind

For hunting especially, why on earth would you reduce your field of vision by 50%? Keep 'em open. Not like this ----->

Tried that and failed, blasted army training makes it a habit I can't break

I can't seem to focus properly with both eyes open....old age calling me

    Are we talking Shotgun here?

Target shooting through a scope is a one eye jobby as is sighting on opens normally BUT if your using RED DOT sights THATS a 2 eye open job.

Shotguns are a 2 eyes open job too but not essential. I find lining up the rib with one eye then when i have it lined up right open the other and find your target and squeeze the trigger

Get a problem with shotguns as well, one eye open ,damn the forces and the peep sight
