Following on from Clubshots recent rap over the knuckles, I would make the following observations :
There are double standards here Baz & the admin team/owners.
There was a post recently with a young lad with his first rabbit. Personally - I don't mind it. It's real life and if done with respect no problem. However, I can see why it is a hot spud and why the requirement is there.
I also respect that this is JSR's forum and as admins, then if you dont want it then that should be respected by those who contribute without question.
The sale of goods on a commercial basis is actually quite prevelant on the BBS at the moment irrespective of it being pellets, scopes, flip up covers or whatever.
If you have rules then they should be adhered to - by everybody.
So if someone shows blue parrot pictures (as in this parrot has expired...) then ask them to delete it and refresh their memory.
If someone tries to sell something that isnt 2nd hand, then refresh their memory , ask them to delete it.
Then ban them if they continue.
There has been a distinct lapse in the application of this principle and this needs to be addressed by admin just as much as those who offend need to think about it.
There is a two teir system in place at present ? And as a forum community that aint right.
Sorry - but that is how I see it.

I agree with you in principle, but I'd hate to pay full wack for Bushnell scopes..... (Elite 4200....£600Originally Posted by hadaka-jimi

There are no pics of dead things allowed as it gives the anti's fuel for their argument, afaik that rule has always been here. As for the sale of new scopes etc. at much lower prices than new, i can't believe anyone would have a problem with it.![]()

Indeed Lash - I do agree.
It has always bubbled under the surface, but the waters are a little bit faster running at the moment dont you think.
But in principle, it is simple. Why do some seem to trade openly and with impunity and others are slapped.
And if they are slapped, why the big song and dance about it and the culprit having to doff cap and eat humble pie.
Either that or make it CLEAR you are selling new gear for profit -
Only JSR can make the call on that one.

No disrespect to people who import and resell on here, but its just as easy to do it yourself. Emailing the States with your card details is no more involved than placing an order in the UK.Originally Posted by Lash13

Often these private importers are people have friends in the US who are prepared to do their mates a favour. Very little competes with our host, and if it did, I'm sure it would be stopped.
Making a big deal about this (as one or two have in the past) just shuts off a cheap supplier to us all.
Another advantage of course from buyin in the UK from our shooting buddies, is that should these goods fail for any reason, you don't have to ship them back to the US yourself. An expensive exercise I can assure you.
Pay more for shooting goods if you want to, but please don't spoil it for the rest of us.![]()

About £13 each way for a typical scope insured upto £500. Not exactly going to break the bank and somewhat unlikely to be required on a decent scope in the first instance. I've only ever had one scope die on me and that was a big 10-50 Deben that I got secondhand and was no spring chicken. FT scopes take a lot of stick compared to hunting ones.Originally Posted by Baldie [aka GeeDee]

Also if you mention tuning certain rifles and getting them done by certain people. You get your name deleted and have too register again I know because it's happened to me several times

I'd recently fancied one particular Leapers compact scope I'd seen on Pyramid Air's website, but nowhere in the UK... but carriage from them in the USA to UK was listed as around forty quid. But I for one have not had a terrific amount of success buying from the US, and it gets harder every day. Oh well... at least with not having a FAC it's not quite so bad not being able to buy a Gamo 1250 from America!
