Hi,
Does anyone have one of these, and if so, could you send me or post photos and info please ?
Any web links?
Are they any good?
What sort of price would one expect to pay?
Thanks in advance, Duncan

How smooth are they?
How well do they shoot?
I understand that they are well built?
Any idea what the guide prices are for a .177?
Thanks in advance, Duncan

Hiya Duncan,
In my case I favour the '50 over the '55 but that may just be through the examples I own. The Original 50 was introduced in early 1952. If you look closely on the action, between the stock and the scope rail on the l/h side, you may (well from mid 1960's) see some very small numbers. These are the month and year of manufacture. Accuracy is very good and smoothness usually depends on who has been inside them, history etc.
The Original 50 was never a power house thats why they (and RWS) brought out the 50TO1 model during the power crazed 80's. The O1 version is not a nice gun I.M.O. to shoot or look at.
The early thinner Schnabel (spelling?) stock version is the most sought after while the Diana 55 is becoming quite rare. Spares?
Price? All depends on condition, age and how much you lust after one!

Hi Ian
I am going to get the new Diana Stutzen shortly and as I love underlevers (especially not run of the mill ones) these also caught my eye.
May well have to get one after the Stutzen.
Are there any other underlevers worth looking at in your opinion?
Regards,
Duncan

webley mk2/3's are nice
... or maybe a Falke 80 or 90. Very rare these. Only seen one but it was built like the proverbial out house. I could make room for one of those!

Tried the Airsporters, really nice. I believe these are the same mechanically as the BSA Stutzen, although I believe the RB2 had a different loading mechanism?

Totally agree on the original 50. Lovely gun. Mine shoots at about 10ft lb. I believe they can be racked up to well above this if desired but I doubt if I;ll bother. I also agree with I.J re the Airsporter - best looking rifle ever leaving aside full stutzens. The RB2 does have a different loading mechanism - rotary slide rather than a tap.
These old guns - the Webley mark 111, the Original 50 and the Airsporter are real classics IMO.
