what does the dot mean on the side of the gun near the cocking lever and loading port. mine hasent got one .but have seen some that have cheers phil

Are you talking about the disc with a pentagon around it?
If so thats the export mark to show its above the German FTLBS limit which i hear is only 6ftlbs.

As far as I know guns sold in Germany have to have the Pentagon on to show they are under the 6 fpe limit.
It sounds like these other Steyr's are grey imports perhaps that have not come into the country via the official importer.
A bit like the Hull Cartridge thing and HW.

the ones with the machined dot are the export rifles which were uprated to 12ft\lbs making them illegal in Germany.
They just machined outh the pentagon with the F before exporting them

As above, if your Steyr has got a pentagon with a little F in it, the gun was imported as a 6ft lb 10 meter match rifle then later uprated to 12 ft lbs. If it has a silver disc, it was imported as a 12 ft lbs rifle. Was talking about this at the Inter Regionals on Saturday and Sunday.
