Do you know how much duty you have to pay?
Also do you have to add VAT on top of that?
I know different items have different duty rates, so want to know if you bought a scope from US?

If you declare it legally, which of course you must do, expect about 20% + £20 in fees etc.
If you had it send marked below $35 as a gift you'd probably not get noticed.
I bought a Bushnell Elite 4200 from the states a couple of years back.
Even after declaring it and paying the appropriate fees it was still substantially cheaper than buying it here.
Only problem is if you have any issues with it and need to return it you have long delays as well as high shipping costs and the hassle of deailing with a store whose opening hours do not correspond with our time zone!
It is a bit of a gamble but if all is well some good savings to be had.
I can't remember the figures but I think I saved close to £150.
mac.
I have bought two, both bushnells,one a 4X16x50 4200 elite and one a legend
Got both from the same company, and have only been hit with parcel force handling charge, which for some strange reason varies? most was £13.50 no customs no vat nothing alse all were declared as telescopes all had true value of goods on them? the 4200 cost me £261 all up, well pleased
cheers KW
I've had 3 Bushnells from www.arcadian-sales.com The first I had to pay £15 "handling charge" for customs, and 17.5% vat. The other two got through with nothing added. The warranty issue may cause problems, but that's a chance you have to take.
