    Question Curious....

How many of you will wear gloves/masks when shooting birds?
Maybe this is over reacting, but say if you're shooting ferals in a barn..would you wear this kind of kit to avoid Avian Flu, should it be present?

Shooting woodies out of trees may well be a reduced risk, but ferals in a confined environment could be a different matter.

    What are your thoughts?

not going to matter for long didnt i hear there was already a bird shooting ban around where the swan was found.

we cant have gun mad nuts running the risk of helping to contain this very real threat by shooting potential flu carrying scavengers.

( i know sarcasm is the lowest form of witt)

every infected bird shot must help, i dont hunt but i think the problem would not be helped by all you hunters being stopped from hunting flying prey.

Any shooting done under vermin control I always wear a mask and gloves(black rubber one's) ,dead birds are then put in a double black thick refuse sack and taken to the council depto to be incinerated.
Shooting at the farms at woodies just my face mask and huntting gloves, but will start to be more careful now due to this latest newsof bird-flu,better to be safe then sorry.

i always wear gloves and face mask, Just my eyes showing, Unless i am shooting ferals around buildings, Then i wear a pair of jeans and a warm jacket.

Walking around a farmyard in full cammo gear makes you feel like a bit of a tit.
I do have a pair of gloves handy just incase.

All the farms near me have white buildings anyway. so i would stand out like a soar thumb

    Cheers

We in Bolton should be O.K.

We have a Chemical Decontamination Unit based at one of the Fire stations.
It will treat a couple of thousand people per day so as long as there's not a match at Old Trafford that would tie it up for a month. we've cracked it.
(Bob1957 works on this so any airgunners should get priority)

As back up there is also a small mobile unit at the Ambulance station.
This needs two people to operate it but they've only got one decontamination suit so the bloke wearing the suit has to get as many people through as possible before his mate cop's it

Nice to know we're being looked after.

Quite agree, although I always wear disposable gloves when handling ferals or rats, as they are nearly always carrying something unpleasant
