    What bottle is this?

    Hi folks,
I've been given this bottle and 'A' clamp HERE from a friend who is an ex diver. It's stamped on the side what looks like....PE 300 BARS and the underneath it says.....2.74.PS 200 BARS
Does anyone know what it is? He say's it can be filled by a bigger bottle (12Lts)
    Thanks
    Nige

    Hi Mate

I'ts whats called a buddy bottle. I would think the 300 bar is the test pressure not the safe working pressure (fill pressure). The 200 bar seems more likely to be the safe working pressure. You could use it to decant from a bigger bottle, and fill it to the safe working pressure from a larger bottle.
If the bottle is not within the test date, I would definately get the buddy bottle tested before you fill it to 200 bar.

    Regards
    Steve

Its an old ablj (adjustable buoyancy life jacket) cylinder normally 200 bar working pressure, filled by decanting off larger cylinder, very old, steel, tapered valve, fit for the bin, believe me.. (20 yrs in diving retail and servicing)

its off an old divers bcd [ buoyancy control device] made by buddy its to inflate the divers stab jacket ..it was made so if you ran out of air you could turn it on to get you out of the water by putting air into your bcd and giveing you lift and so you did not use the air in your breathing tank as well i had one years ago when i first started diveing , as i do a bit of scuba its why i have 3x12ltr 300 bar faber tanks

OK then, judging by your replies, it's a waste of space and no good for anything then? Ah well, easy come, easy go
    Cheers
