I just read the thread regarding the Diana pistol, and saw reference to e_gun - I've looked at the site, which appears to be a spin-off from that other famous auction house...

Rather than hijack the pistol thread, I thought I'd post here to ask if anyone can tell me anything about e_gun?

Paddy it's referring to www.egun.de, a German site that AFAIK has nothing to do with e b a y. Mind you it does look a lot like **** in its design - but they have a policy of having nothing to do with guns. Some members here have bought from it without problems, I think.

Correct. I took a chance and bought a FWB model 80 a few weeks ago, it arrived safely, so has my new FWB 300S rifle and I'm now waiting for my FWB 65 which was posted yesterday!!

I was wondering what people who'd bought from the site had experienced. As you might expect, there's a lot of old Euro stuff that you just wouldn't see over here. Someone please tell me that the site is no good, or else I'm never going to kick my addiction...

I found the site quite interesting but the English translation isn't so hot and my German is non-existent. A good German dictionary to hand would be a good idea accessing this site. But I'm glad there is something around like
e6rap bay which does guns.

I was wondering what people who'd bought from the site had experienced. As you might expect, there's a lot of old Euro stuff that you just wouldn't see over here. Someone please tell me that the site is no good, or else I'm never going to kick my addiction...

Quite a few of the sellers seem to be dealers - they tend to be the ones with higher feedback ratings and often offer some sort of guarantee. Every seller states clearly in the ad whether they will sell abroad.

I use altavista babelfish translator to get a rough idea of the blurb on an ad.

Some ads are asking buy it now prices that are not cheap even for the UK.

I joined up a while ago when looking for a Diana pistol and contacted a few sellers asking about postage and bank transfers. They spoke good enough English but were a bit vague.

I suppose you just have to go with your gut instinct about whether it's safe to deposit money in a foreign bank account. Unless you're seriously rich that is.

Good to hear Nige has had positive experiences. Maybe duty free transactions with Germany is one of the good things about being in the EU.....

That's excellent info - many thanks! As I collect primarily British guns, I think I'll probably leave it until I've got the ones I'm mainly after (Webley Service Mk1, Airsporter RB2, Stutzen, Mercury Challenger, 635, etc.) before venturing into the Euro-zone!

Sorry to give you the hard word Paddy, but it is an excellent site.....I`ve bought a few guns on there and I`m going to buy a lot more......Diana, SIG Hammerli, Anschutz, FWB, Walther, EMGE, Haenel Suhl.......Oh God, the list is endless, I hope you`re rich, excuse me I must go and lie down awhile..
