Craig, if you bunged in a dozen or so extremely overt 'product placements' you'd just have composed a classic AG/AGW article. Welcome to the 'Pro Shooters'

If can afford to use .410 and 12b carts on rats you might want to consider this option:

2-3 years ago on this site someone modded a crossman rat catcher to do close to uk limit which was shooting large lead balls (.308 i think).

That seemed to me the perfect rifle for ratting, the trajectory sucked though but it must of hit like a bitch.

Does anyone have a link or some pics of it?

The gun and ammo are S.1 The tank is unrestricted.

When I fetched up in Orkney I asked Firearms Licensing if they'd grant an FAC for a 64 pounder rifled muzzle loader for re-enactment (there are a few scattered around the islands - one of them mouldering away in a farmyard). They said fine. When I asked about security Norman replied that I might want to throw a tarp over it to keep the rain off.

That was also mine (it was .32)

Here it is in "export" trim - Look at the size of those pellets

And dropped into a ratcatcher stock

Fantastic fun out to about 15 yards didnt matter which part of the rat you hit at all.

Never had one - mainly because I don't shoot into the rocks with a rimmy!

I have permission for about a mile of beach with everything from clean white sand to, gravel, to huge rocks and with huge piles of (very smelly) rotting kelp. It's heaving with rats. I'm told works very well, although I only tried it for the first time a couple of nights ago.

You're now going to tell me these things are staggeringly expensive. How do you go about getting one?

    Not megabucks

    http://www.crookedbarn.com/new_page_1.htm

The .32 isnt listed but I'm sure he'd make another one.

Theres also a .380 smoothbore which takes the Crosman 1100 trapmaster shells or .380 round ball

Similarly mine now lives with Pat, he might be persuaded to part with it

Richard (still think the spas makes a louder "thock" though)

    A 'resounding thwack' perhaps?

I have a 12 bore double but, cost aside, I just don't find it fun on rats. Being an RSPB member, I only use it for walked up rabbits these days - that's fun.
