HW97k Whats your opinion of these?

Does anyone here own one of these or has had the chance to shoot one? Been looking it over and was curious as to how it shoots and whether its especially heavy. Listed as 8.75lbs on JSR so was wondering if it takes a bit of getting used to. though i imagine it probably cuts down on the recoil.

Was also wondering how it compares to say the hw80(k) or the 95(k)

    Hi Rhys.

The HW97 is a very good spring powered air rifle. It does tip the scales a bit but believe me, the balance is so good that the weight is not an issue. And as you say - it does help to absorb recoil. If you're after a full power, high quality and accurate air rifle with a top trigger unit then the 97 is certainly one to consider. Plus there's a silencer fitted as standard so you can go hunting without spending any more money!

i echo what neal has just said...they are brilliant air rifles and very well made..the trigger is good and they are deadly accurate... my brother shoots one of these in .177 and he is a cracking shot with it ....brilliant rifles and believe me the weight isnt an issue as the balance is good

One of the best candidates for a home tune, you can transform this to one of the sweetest springers out there.

I got mine a few weeks ago and I love it
Very accurate and the recoil is a lot less than other springers I have tried.
The weight of it seems to add to it's appeal and for me it's nicely balanced.

Does the V-mach/Venom kit solve the problem of grease coming forward from behind the piston?
Good deals with: Baz, foxshooter, vbull, leadhead, Gary C/Slim Shady, coddy, rixy, David, Baldie, BoNeS, mjonho, Reeco.

weight is one factor , revently i tried a few pellets in my tuned 97k . Indoors the rifle was a shortened pistoned 97 .i tried air arms 8.4 they fared badly . The weight was fine but they were very slack . NOT GOOD if your doing lamp work and the odd one flicks out when loading . It happened several times ..but wise to the ways of loose pellet behaviour . Stopped a few dry fires ,, no 2 the still brilliant crosman premier 7.9 brilliant fir and performance up to ridiculous powers .. beware a dry fire takes a while for your gun to get over .has to be re run in . Can split your pistonseal crack your spring .. choose a pellet that fits positively
