Hi,
As a newbie, shooting a FX cyclone 177 zeroed at 35 yards, using Air Arms Diabolo pellets is there anywhere on the web where I can see a trajectory chart? And how much will sidewind affect impact point at 35 yrds?
I'm trying to figure out my first zero point and how much I need to aim off at 10/20/25/30 yards. I guess it isn't too flat, and frankly understanding the trajectory is pretty important to me; I've shot a lot before so pointing the rifle in the right place is'nt too hard, but deciding where the right place is pretty skilful!
Any help appreciated!
Cheers

Hi Ksyrium, you ride road bikes by any chance?
Lots of practice on the target range helps too - for me anyway actually seeing where the group moves to on the target card helps me remember
With lots of time put in you can plot your own trajectory onto a graph after shooting at different ranges. Fire a string of shots at each range though so you can rule the flyers out.

Chairgun is very useful for giving you an accurate visulisation of the pellet path from barrel to target (providing you are accurate with the figures). It is important to enter the scope height/distance from the centre of the barrel to the centre of your scope as this will allow you to plot the hold-over (aiming above) for close range and hold-under (aiming below) for the mid range before your zero. Scope height and pellet weight strongly dictate this. I zeroed my .177 S400 at 35 yds with a high mounted scope (1.80"). Chairgun suggested that I aimed 1 milldot into the wind per 5mph wind @ 35yds @ 14x magnification (I didn't take note of the measurement at the target). So for example a 20mph wind would need 4 milldots into the wind (@14x mag). I found in practice Chairgun was very close to the results I achieved in the field whilst target shooting at varying ranges!! It is also almost perfectly in sync witht the results of shooting my 30ftlb FAC Rapid at ranges between 10-80m!! I was very impressed! I especially liked the visualisation aspect of the program which allowed me to view a similar reticule at any magnification.
Any probs with it - give me a mail and I'll try to help you.
Good luck!
Simon.
