Taking the airgun home from New Zealand

Hello.

I'm here in NZ on Holiday and in 4 weeks I'm flying back to London
and I would like to take the 357 airgun revolver home

Does anyone know had I should go about this? I'm sure I can't just pop into the post as it will look very dodgy.

If you bring it in your luggage you'll have to declare it in NZ. If you do that the airline will pre-alert customs and you'll have to prove UK legality

How can you prove legality? Do you mean proof or purchase or test certificate to indicate power?
If it's the latter, how do you go about this?
