    Sound dampening

This may seem an odd idea / weird question but inside the barrel of the raider 10 are 3 babbles making up the internal silencer. Hard to describe but think of an old camera film container (smaller and alumimium) with a .22 size hole one end and open the other. Ok got that picture in your head? Now if i lined the inside of these with sound absorbing foam (leaving enough space for air to still circulate) do you think it would be quieter? More importantly would it be safe and not increase the power?

In my opinion it would dampen the sound a bit more and no, it will not increase M.E.

    Interesting....I have one of these.

Incidentally, if you pull them out and forget which way they go back in again..

Do they go in with the open end or the end with the .25 hole facing the muzzle ?

I agree with Neil. Things to try to start with are green scouring pad, dish-washing sponge (any colour ) and anything else that will hold its shape within the baffle (not babble, that's what Snock does ). Another approach, depending on the internal diameter, is to stick a felt pad inside the baffle over the hole then make a matching hole in the felt. Using a different material in each baffle is worth trying.

But beware that this can lead to madness. I've been down this road with my MFR and it has definitely become an obsession. After you've tried a few different combinations you'll start wondering if three baffles is the right number then you'll start asking Neil to make up alternatives for you. The possibilities are endless....

Big hole to the breech and the small hole to the muzzle, similar to whats in a sidewinder.

I ordered some baffles from Mr Pope yesterday for a v-tech silencer and he happened to mention that they go in 'small hole to the breech',
Checked my Sidewinder & that is small hole to the breech !

Though I think it will work both ways.

Dagaros, have you tried an extra silencer (i think the gun is better with-out one)

The Raider 10 had the baffles small hole towards the muzzle but i dont see how this makes a large difference as there are the same number of chambers just diff distance to the first "small hole". Anyway off to stuff sound dampening stuff in them to see if it works

I think I will check how I put mine back, and see whether changing it does make any difference to POI or grouping.

It ought not to make the slightest difference, but you know how these things are !

Let us know on the fuzzy felt project.
