    re-parallaxing Big Nikko

I'm going to rotate the front lens of my Big Nikko, but first would like to know :

    1. Will this increase the distance between 40m and 50m? If so how much?
    2. Will nitrogen escape if I do so?
    3. Are there any other side effects except moving far focus from infinity to ~60m?

    Thank you for any info.

I tried adjusting mine so that minimum was 8 yards. I then discovered that I couldn't focus on anything beyond about 40 yards as the wheel ran out of travel. Had to reset it to a minimum of 9 yards.

I've not had to do anything to mine. As it came out of the box brand new from BAR it parallaxes on full mag to just short of 9 yards. Does that mean ASI or Lloyd is re-parallaxing them knowing the intended use?

Having had a play with 10's of BSA/Nikos over the years it more than likely wont work, the gaps can get smaller and will not work as well anyway.
I have only come across about 6 BSA's that benefited and worked well by reducing the max range, no Niko as yet.
It can focus at a closer range but this induces other problems as vagueness, grain and darkness within a small degree of rotation of front lens assy. You need it to snap in and out, it aint a Leupold or Burris.
At best a negligeable increase of 10 to 15% wider gaps, personally i would concentrate on the control makes no odds whether 1mm gaps or 20mm gaps if your wrong.
Mine came down to 10 yards on 50mag out the box, wang it on 10mag you could get a shot off at 6 yards if need be.

    Thanks, guys!

Mine is focusing at 9yrds from the box, but I was wanting to increase the gap between 40 and 50m marks at expense of losing focusing on infinity.

But if Jon says there will be no gain but other kinds of expences instead, I will not be doing reparallaxing then.

It may do without any side effects, its just that i have not found one yet- BSA yes.
Just mark the lens carrier so that you could put it back to standard spec.

I find bringing the parallax downrange often results in smaller gaps at the top end as you are in effect moving the required ranges further up towards the max

I agree with Darren, I tried briging mine down to 8 yards, but the gaps at 50-55yards were worse, so I put it back, and shoot 8yd targets at 10X mag.
