    Temperature sensitivity: HFT Kit:

Just wondering, which rifle(s),in the honest, qualified opinion of the members of this site,is(are) least sensitive to changes in temperature, particularly high temperature (80 plus).
I am looking for a new rifle for HFT-I`m not sure whether to go for regged or unregged.
Your help with this conundrum would be most appreciated.

Springers are not overly temp sensitive . PCP-wise the Mk3 is least troubled by temperature by some margin.

Agree with Darren, we did a test at Quarry last Winter and it was bl00dy freezing.
We chronoed a few guns before we started the comp and then again a few hours later, the 3x MK3's we tested were down around 5ps, the S400 was down 30fps, the HW100 was 40fps and also a Ripley was down (can't remember how much).

    What Darren said

My Mk3 s seemed completely indifferent to temp (and the springers don't care much either) !

Out of all my rifles I've shot owned my Daystate MK3 S is the least temperature sensitive, one of the reasons I ditched my HW100's was this . I've had my Mk3 dragged through rain, sleet, frost, snow and recently i've had it in tropical heat!(in fact the first time i shot my mk3 s was in snow!). Poi has hasn't moved ( apart from putting on another stock but thats another story!). Well if this doesn't prove the mk3 concept WORKS then nothing will!

does this mean when it's bl**dy boiling hot the fps increases by this much or doesn't it work like that?as i'm just about to buy my first pcp i'd like to get a consistent one.cheers dave

on any PCP when it's hot it is more than likely that your muzzle velocity will increase. Even if your mv raises by 20fps you won't really notice it on paper until you get too field target ranges and even then it will be 1"-1/2" higher than normal. As this will be your first pcp I would urge you no in fact I'm telling you to get an s400 it will fill all your needs for now and when it is at the top of it's power curve it is as consistent as some regged guns.

Don't get me wrong hw100's are very good guns but they are not as reliable as the 400 series of rifles, it's true they have a better trigger but they are very temperature sensitive and not that reliable.

What I`ve noticed is that the person who is worried about performance to the enth degree, individual pellet weight, 1or 2 fps difference,1mm out at 50 yds and so on always seem to own a Daystate Mk3.
Were you people like this before you got the Mk3 or does owning one make you like this ??????

ps No I`ve not got one and no I probably would`nt buy one if I could afford one.
