Hi,

and thumbs up to stevecoo, excellent deal on an unused tempest, thanks !

Soon worked out that a bit of maintenance was going to be required -- it didn't cock too smoothly and seemed inconsistent (these seem common issues on new tempests reading older posts. A mate has one and his was the same to start with too. I spent an hour or three smoothing and cleaning the spring, guide, piston port and the cocking mechanism, loads of rough spots to autosol or sand out. Refitted everything, a little light lubing - ultra lube in the piston port, sae80 on the spring, moly on the guide and spring ends. Now shoots smooth, accurate, quieter, job done.

The tempest is quiet enough for the garden and loads of fun, feels right in the hand -how on earth did webley go bust making stuff like this?

Only one minor prob, safety catch won't engage now - must have upset the sear somewhere during piston lubing. Anyone got a quick fix or is it tempest in bits time again?
