    Rabbits

I joined this forum not long ago, thought it would be good.

You just seem to talk about killing innocent animals like Rabbits.
It is hardly fair game to shoot a Rabbit that has no chance against you is it?

I just fail to see how that is good fun?

    Unless I am missing something.

It just seems silly, grown man killing small rabbit.

    Cant understand it.

I like shooting, but not talking about killing innocent rabbits etc..

    Very dissapointing and surprising

Rabbits have to be controlled by law, if landowner will not do it the authorities will and will bill them.

Plus they are good to eat.

Then why not try reading the threads that aren't about hunting?

There are plenty of members here who don't hunt, but manage to filter out the bits they don't want to read.

Welcome to the BBS by the way.

Well if your not into hunting then no problem.

As for rabbits being innocent, afraid I cannot agree. Grey squirells look innocent but have been the main reason why our native red is almost at extintion levels.

They are offically a pest specises like rats - unless you think they are cuddly too

Woodpigeons eat tons of grain - the list of pest species goes on.

They also have a lot more going for them in terms of spotting those that choose or need to hunt them.

Eyesight, cammoflage, smell, hearing, vibration sensation......

and as most hunt with a legal limit rifle, that means getting close so it increases the odds of detection to thier advantage.

You can still enjoy the sport - there are plenty of clubs for plinking or competition.

But please dont confuse a necessity as a some sort of wanton blood lust.

Whatever you decide. I hope you enjoy your shooting

Contrary to what you might have heard, game animals are not hard to kill. No warm-blooded animal can live without a heart, except for the possible exceptions of ex-wives

i can see your concern, but the rabbit attacks helpless vegetables in the same way we attack them, you see mother nature is fair. besides, i was told by a farmer that the way they reproduce themselves are far to quick, which may threaten the food chain, so we are doing mother nature a favorite.

as for me i always read the rabbit a little prayer when i look through the sniper scope brfore i pull the trigger. that's the best i can do. what needs to be done needs to be done.

    Oh dear

Stick with the target shooting buddy, stick around here and filter out the hunting threads. There is so much information available on this forum, some of which I am sure you could supply, that it would be a shame to be put off by those of us who hunt and know why, even have first hand experience of the damage done when a species reaches pest proportions.
If you don't know why we do it, you are obviously either naieve or plain stupid, I choose to think the former. However, we as a community will not criticise you for sticking with tin targets, please don't criticise hunters for doing what we do, especially as you seem unaware of our motives and drives.
