    Bipod recommendations

Had a look at a couple and they do seem rather expensive for what they are.

Anyways - can anyone recommend a decently priced, good one (yeah I know you get what you pay for). Or am I better going for used?

    These aren't bad for £30.

    BAR

with the added advantage of being very lightweight.

Harris bi-pods cost abit, but i had ahold of one last week and it felt like a decent bit of kit.
Probably a great addition to your kit if you have a use for one.

for lightweight, read flimsy. theres only one name for bipods - harris. also sold at bar. the only thing that comes close is a versapod from optics warehouse.
look in the for sale section and watch a harris get snapped up in minutes.

The BAR are great if its just for casual use.

I have two and last week we were out every day and one of them continually needed bits being pushed back in and bolts retightened. Luckily we always spotted the bits that fell off!

When it comes to replacing, I will be getting a Harris.

Optics Warehouse do a copy of the Harris Bipod for about half the price, I have one and think it is good, but I have never had a true Harris to compare it to. Anyway I have no complaints about it.

Thanks again. I'll start doing some comparisons!

I don't want bits falling off, but the Harris copy looks the part....

The harris copy is the outers rockmount.. I have had the sitting model for a year. It's a bit high for prone shooting but it can be done.

It's never let me down and has not gone rusty or anything !

It's my first and only bipod so I have no comparisons to make, but it does a good job and I would buy another.

Same here i went for Harris, i would rather buy one good quality one for a bit of cash than two or more cheap ones when they break.

I think it can depend on the rifle you use. O.k. so Harris are the bench mark and the best BUT in my S410k they look awful and throw the balance off. I use the one that Mad Pierre linked to from BAR.
They have a "cleaner" profile and seem to suit the rifle better.
The down side is that it occasionally needs a spruce up with a paint can and a coat of oil but what isn't going to need some t.l.c.?
