Brilliant choices Neil. Any chance of some pics please?
Hello everyone
I bid for 6 rifles in the Webley auction, and got lucky with 4. Here are the stories, with some ruefull reflections.
1. Feinwerkbau Sport .177. Why oh why did I ever sell the (perfect) one I had???. Great to replace it, and I've been shooting this more that my PCPs. It's wonderful.
2. Webley Service, .22. Must have bought and sold 10 over the years, but haven't had one for the last 20 years. Welcome home my darling!
3. Webley Mk 3 .177. It looked awful (rust stains) which is probably why my bid was successful. BUT, it wasn't rust. A bit of WD40 and wire wool, and it's immaculate. Oh happy happy days.
4. Webley Mk 3 Supertarget, with Parker Hale aperture sight. Enough said.
I'm happy, but I'm running out of space in the gunroom, and something must go (anyone want to buy my incredibly cheap Daystate Mk 3???)
Neil

So it was you bidding against me for the Mk2 Service and the Mk3 Supertarget! I did come home with two Mk2's and a Mk3 though, so I can't complain...
There were 3 FWB Sports in all at the auction - two .177s and a .22 (which I bought). I couldn't believe the prices that were paid for the .177s!
Anyway, it's good to hear that they've gone to a deserving home!

It says on the Wallis & Wallis site that they will supply a 'prices realised' list if you send in an SAE. If anyone has done this and could send a scan of it to my email I'd appreciate it greatly. Failing that I suppose I could always send in an SAE.....Originally Posted by Paddy_SP

I must admit that I don't remember this one being sold at that price:
1193 A scarce early Webley Mk I air rifle, SN 613, production example, action AF, some parts may be missing. GC for age, some wear overall £150
I would have bought it if it had gone for £150 - I'll check my own records when I get home...
That's definitely what it says on the list Paddy - maybe the compiler got it wrong. It did seem rather cheap.Originally Posted by Paddy_SP
The reason I say this is that I thought I'd bought the cheapest one there! It was this one:
1159 A .22" Webley Mk I break action air rifle, c 1924-25 model, SN 364, a very early example, incomplete. GC for age (some wear overall, action AF) £250
When I get home I'll check the records I made at the time!
Is the serial number on the cocking arm if so I have one of these here number 297.Originally Posted by Garvin
Can't see any other numbers on it.
Hope so as it's a mates and he will be chuffed.
Think it's double action trigger it has fluted stock and no scope rail.

Hi Paddy (and others!)
Yes, looks like it was me bidding against you for the Webley Mk III (I was desperate for a Supertarget).
Here are the only prices I have:
Lot 1149 Webley Mk III Supertarget - £190
Lot 1192 Webley Mk II Service - £350
Lot 1199 Webley MK III - £170
Lot 1246 Feinwerkbau 124 - £180
I was so so ticked off that I couldn't actually attend the auction; how many were there, and what was the atmosphere like??
Neil
If it is number 297, it should definitely be a 'Double Pull' Mk.3Originally Posted by JD75
