whats the best scope to use for hunting. i have a scope its just a cheep one but its really heavy for hunting. is it better for hunting to go mid range in objective lens size? just to cut down on weight.

for dawn to dusk use a good 40-45mm is fine but as with most things you only get what you pay for unless you get a really good used bargain.

i have 2 simmons wtc scopes in 40mm and 44mm and they are some of the best scopes i've ever owned.the optics are fantastic(especially on the wtc 4-12x44 which does well past dusk).

if you are on a tight budget then it may well be a better option to buy a quality used scope.

Daniel, what is your price range? I USESimmons WTC6.5-20X50 BUT HAVE JUST BOUGHT a swift 6-24x50 which is lighter than the WTC but seems very good, ANT.

i don't want one at the moment just trying to work out why. some people prefer smaller obj lenses and if getting an illuminated rectal is worth the money i shot up till i cant shot no more at night as my scope is an AGS 3+9*40 mil dot Sapphire so its nothing spacial

A lighter weight of scope, and the fact that lower mounts can be used are probably the main reasons.
and if getting an illuminated rectal is worth the money
Tail lights are not compulsory when airgunning.... yet.
