    Which Airgun Book

Can anyone recommend a good book on how airguns work?
I have an old Gamo rifle, the spring broke. As there was no model number T.W. Chambers told me how to measure the spring etc, and they supplied an OX replacement. I'm sure it was stronger than the original, but when fitted… Harder to cock, bigger bang, but less impact. From reading various bits on this board and others, you all know this can happen. But why? I'm intrigued .
    Thanks for any help.

    hi keith

probaly the best book is gerald cardews, the airgun from trigger to target.
it deals with everything about the workings of an airgun, but is rather technical
in places, sadly the author died a few years back . but a search on a certain auction site or
    abe-books should produce a copy.
