    Exclamation Scope advice please

    Hi all,

Just got a new job and even with the baby on the way i can afford to start shooting again!!!! Have already decided on a MK3 but am stuck for a choice on glass.....

I have a bout £400 to spnd asnd was thinking of either the nikko 6-24x42 SW or the lightstream,
Any other suggestions/ opinoins on the above greatly recived.

On question will the nikko on BKLS clearthe mag on the MK3? This might have some bearing on my choice.

    Cheers all

What are you intending to use it for? FT, HFT, Hunting or just plinking?

    Kev,
my S410 is used as both a hunting rifle and for HFT. It has a Nikko 6-24x42 sniper on it. It does all I need for hunting including XVD use and I manage to do OK with this compromise scope at HFT. I consider it a good all round scope. At the time it was the only viable option available with sidewheel PX. I would also consider the Bushnell elite 6-24x40 with mil-dot. It's due to be available with side focus, if required, very soon.

I wouldn't but there seem to be plenty out there that will. There are usually a few MK3s/Airwolfs with expensive glass at every club I've ever been to that never see any action other than plinking.

From the two mentioned above I would go for the Lighstream, I had the Nikko and it is a nice scope, but the Lighstream has a slight optical edge (I have the original Weaver Tactical which I believe is similar).

However both scopes are a good choice, depending on what you are going to use it for. If you want to have a go at FT a higher magnitude is favourable so the 24x has an advantage.

As an alternative I would also reccomend a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 (or the 8-32x40) or the Leupold EFR 6.5-20x.

I had a look through a 4.5-14 lightstream this morning at BTAS.
Wow, really nice optics and the first focal plane reticle could be usefull.
Is it worth £490 though? I dunno, but its class thats for sure.
